Engaging Day

This is my first attempt at a fanfic, and I figured that I would write it
about the two senshi that are the most interesting to me. There is no
fighting or monster-a-day deal here, it's pretty much a romance. If you have
any problem with Michiru and Haruka's relationship, then you won't want to
read this. If not, then read on.

Oh yeah, disclaimers: All characters within this story are property of
Takeuchi Naoko and are being used without her permission. If you have any
comments on the story, then e-mail me at [email protected]. Thanks and
enjoy the story!

An Engaging Day

by Draven Manara

As Haruka Ten'ou sat around in the mansion that she, Michiru Kaiou,
Setsuna Meiou, and Hotaru Tomoe lived in and owned together, (most of it
paid for by the money Haruka got from racing, though) she got tired of
waiting for Michiru to get out of the shower, so she decided to leave a note
and just drive around the city to see if there was anything interesting going
on. So, after she had written the note, she got into her yellow sportscar and
headed toward downtown Tokyo.
As she drove, she saw something that normally wouldn't have caught
her eye, but she was in too much of a good mood not to give it a try. It was
a lingere store. She decided that she would go in and buy something for
Michiru. She parked her car and locked the door, then went inside.
"Can I help you sir?"
Haruka smirked at the ladies question. "Yes I'm looking for something
for my girlfriend."
"That's nice. What did you have in mind?" the lady asked.
"I dunno. You got anything in aqua?"
"Yes, we do in fact." she said as she walked toward a rack with
teddies on it. "What dress size is she?"
"A two or a three, I'm not sure." Haruka said, hoping that she was
close.
"All we have is a two in aqua, but I believe we have a two and a
three in marine blue."
"I'll take one of each." Haruka said quickly, realizing that Usagi
had just walked into the store.
Usagi Tsukino had married Mamoru Chiba just a few weeks ago, three
days after Usagi's 20th birthday, and they were happier than anyone had ever
seen them. Haruka envied them, because she knew that she would never be able
to marry the one that she loved.
Haruka wanted to get out of the store before Usagi saw her, but it
was too late.
"Haruka-chan? That's you isn't it?" Usagi said from behind her,
"This is one of the last places that I would expect to find you." Usagi
wasn't as annoying as she had once been, but it was still enough to get on
Haruka's nerves.
Haruka sighed. "Why's that?" she said, a touch of sarcasm in her
voice. The clerk had gone to ring the items up.
"Well, not to sound mean or anything, but, because you're you!" Usagi
said.
Haruka laughed. "Yeah, well can't a girl do some shopping?"
This made the clerk look up.
"I guess, but, you're... just not the shopping type." Usagi tried to
pick the right words so as not to hurt Haruka's feelings. She wouldn't have
been able to tell even if she had hurt her feelings anyway. "Anyway, why are
you buying lingerie? You don't have a boyfriend..."
"Here you go. Have a nice time tonight sir." The clerk interupted,
not sure of herself, as Haruka gave her the money.
"Have a nice time tonight, 'sir'?" Usagi repeated a little
sarcastically to Haruka.
"Shut up and mind your own business you bitch." Haruka said as she
stormed out of the store.
'What the hell's her problem?' Usagi thought to herself as she
continued to shop.

As Haruka got into her car, she wondered what she was doing as she
started to head downtown. 'If I give this stuff to Michiru,' she thought,
'I'll feel terrible because I've been wanting to give her so much more...
'And now that ditz pretty much knows what's going on because of that
stupid clerk.' Haruka thought, 'IF anything goes on tonight. I don't know if
I can give Michiru those. Plus with Hotaru at home we can't do anything. But
I know that they will look terrific if they fit. And we haven't made love in
a month, so...
'Haruka, shut up already.' She tried to listen to herself then had
an idea that suprised herself for not thinking of it before. "Of course!
That's how I can do this without feeling guilty!" Haruka yelled at herself.
She spun her car around into the lane going back uptown. 'First to
find a jewelry store.' She thought to herself as she went by the lingerie
store again. Then, a few stores after that she saw Usagi's friend's mom's
store. She stopped and hopped out of her car, hoping that Usagi wasn't in
here now. As her luck would have it, Usagi was in here, talking to Naru.
'Well, she'll find out about it one day anyway, and she is the
princess. Don't worry Haruka. Just get in and out of there with as little
conversation as possible.'
Haruka took a deep breath and walked into the store.
"Speak of the devil..." Naru said as she saw Haruka walk into the
store.
"Talking about me Usagi-chan?" Haruka said as she walked up to the
two.
"Uhhhh..."
"What I do is none of your business, so I would like you to stay out
of it. Thank you." Haruka sneered at Usagi, then turned to Naru, who was
behind the counter filling in for her mother. "I would like to look at some
rings, please."
"Ok. Do want one with a stone in it, or just a plain band?"
"A stone, aquamarine." Haruka said. Usagi's eyes widened a little.
"Ok, over here please," Naru said as she walked over to another
section of the display cases.
"You don't like jewelry Haruka-chan, that much I know for a fact."
Usagi said as she followed the other two.
"What makes you think that you know me so well, huh?"
"Ummm..."
"Usagi, just shut up and don't talk to me right know. I'd like to
see this one please." she said as she pionted to a gold one with an
aquamarine that had golden dolphins encircling it with two diamonds for
their eyes and a solid gold band.
"Ok," Naru said as she handed the ring to Haruka. "That one's
150,000 yen, even."
"I'll take it." She said as she pulled out a huge wad of bills from
her pocket and paid exact.
"Holy shit Haruka, where did you get all of that money?" Usagi
practically screamed.
"Racing, where else? I'll see you two later. Bye." Haruka said as
she walked out the door.
"bye..." Usagi said weakly.

Outside, Haruka felt like she was on top of the world. She had the
had someone that she loved and loved her in return, she had racing, and she
had a purpose in life.
She looked at her watch.
"Shit, it's already 6:00!"
Haruka jumped into her car and blazed home, drawing the attention of
a couple cops (which she easily lost).

As she pulled in, Michiru ran out into the garage to meet her.
"Hello, love. How have you been today?" Haruka said as she turned
the engine off.
"I'm feeling wonderful. Hotaru is staying the night at a friend's
and Setsuna is monitering the gates of time for the next three months."
"Oh, and why does that make you feel so good?" Haruka asked, already
knowing the answer.
"Weeeell..." Michiru said with a sexy sly smile on her face. "We
haven't exactly been together intimately in almost a month, So I figured
that tonight would be our night."
'This has got to be the absolute best day of my life!' Haruka thought
to herself as she and Michiru walked arm-in-arm inside.
"Well, in that case, you might like what I bought today."
"Oh, and what did you buy?"
"Go on up to our room, and I'll be up there in a few minutes."
"What have you got up your sleeve?"
"You'll find out soon." Haruka said as she gave Michiru a kiss on
the forehead and a quick tight hug.
Michiru smiled than went up to their room as Haruka sat down at the
table and wondered how she was going to ask Michiru.
She went through a lot of ideas than finally found the one she
wanted to go with.
"Are you still alive down there?" Michiru called from upstairs.
"Michiru, I'll be up in a while, but until I do come up, get dressed
up formally."
"What? Why?"
"It's a suprise that I'm sure you'll like. But you can't come out of
your room until I come and get you."
"Ok."
Michiru shut the door again and Haruka got started on cooking an
incredibly beautiful meal.
'I guess that Michiru was going to fix chicken today.' Haruka thought
as she saw the chicken breast on the counter. 'That makes it a little
easier.'
Over the next 15 minutes, Haruka got the meal started.
"Time to change." Haruka said to herself as she set the timer for
the very last thing.
Haruka went to a spare room where she kept a few tuxedos for such
occasions. She quickly changed then made sure that she looked good enough.
Then she spent the next fifteen minutes practicing the speech she would say
to/ask Michiru at dinner. Just as she got it down to minimum wavering in her
voice, the timers started to go off.
Haruka rushed downstairs to set out everything.
After another ten minutes, she had a small table set with a white
table cloth, a single candle in the middle held by an incredibly beautiful
candle holder that both Haruka and Michiru liked. Then, after assuring
herself one more time that she could do this, she shut off all the lights
leaving only the candle burning, and went upstairs to get Michiru.
She knocked lightly on the door. "Michiru?"
The door opened and Michiru stood there in a long flowing aquamarine
gown that matched her hair. Haruka's mouth gaped because of how stunning
Michiru looked. Haruka noticed that the only makeup Michiru was wearing was
a deep red lipstick.
When she saw Michiru turning a red as dark as her lipstick, Haruka
shut her mouth and held out her hand for Michiru's. Michiru took it, then
Haruka gave it a light kiss.
"This way, love." Haruka said as Michiru took hold of her arm.
They walked downstairs with Michiru asking a dozen questions in
which Haruka replied to all with "You'll see."

When they reached the dining room, Michiru gasped at how romantic
the atmosphere was. Haruka let go of Michiru's arm to pull out first her
partner's chair, then her own.
"My goodness Haruka, this is more lovely than I could have ever
imagined. How did you manage this in just an hour?" Michiru said as she sat
down.
"When you have raced for as long as I have, you learn how to do

things well and fast."
Michiru smiled because she knew that Haruka never cooked unless it
was an extremely important occasion to her, so there had to be something
behind this dinner.
"Why did you cook tonight Haruka?"
"What do you mean?"
"You know exactly what I mean. You never cook."
"What, are you afraid that my cooking will give you food poisening?"
"No, that's not it, it's just..."
"You think that there is something else to this dinner?"
A shy smile appeared on Michiru "Well, yes, I do."
"Well, there is. But I can't tell you what it is until after dinner."
"Oh, come on Haruka, that's not fair."
"Sorry, but that's the rule."
"Since when do you play by the rules?"
That ended their conversation and they ate their meal in a
comfortable silence.
'I wonder what Haruka is going to do.' Michiru thought, and it was
pretty much the only thing that she could think of.

When they finished their dinner, Haruka decided that it was time to
ask Michiru.
"Dinner was great, love." Michiru said sweetly.
"I'm glad that you liked it. But, now comes the suprise."
"I thought that this dinner was the suprise."
"Well, I have a bigger suprise that I hope that you like even more."
She said as she pulled the ring out of her pocket. She got out of her chair
then stood beside of Michiru. She took hold of her hand then started to
speak words, that she had not rehearsed, but sounded even lovelier. "I've
loved you for two lifetimes, and everyday, our bond grows stronger. Recently
it has become so that I wanted to make sure that we could be together for all
of eternity. But until today I thought that it was impossible for it to be
absolutely certain that we would." She knelt down and held out the ring.
"Michiru Kaiou, will you marry me?"
Michiru just stared at Haruka, then the ring, then at Haruka again.
When she saw Haruka turning blue, she realized that she had better answer
soon, or Haruka would pass out.
"Yes... of course I will marry you." Haruka let out her breath and
Michiru jumped on Haruka and hugged her. Haruka pushed her back, slipped the
ring on her finger, then pulled her close for a tight embrace. She then
picked up Michiru and headed for their room. She laid Michiru on the bed,
then stood up, remembering the lingere.
"I'll be right back, love"
"Where are you going?"
"Don't worry, I'll be back in a few seconds."
"Ok, I'll be waiting."
Haruka ran down the stairs three at a time, and jumping over the last
six. She ran out into the garage, grabbed the bags, then went back up the
stairs in much the same manner that she desended them.
"I'm back." She said as she entered the room.
"Twenty seconds flat, impressive." Michiru joked.
"Ha ha. Here you go, love." Haruka said as she handed the bag to
Michiru.
"What's this?" She asked as she peared into the bag. "Oh my God!
Haruka, when exactly did you buy these?" She asked as she held up the three
lace teddies.
"I'd have to say at about one or two this afternoon."
"Really?"
"Yeah now go try them on, I want to see if they fit."
"Ok, I'll be right back." She said as she went into the bathroom.
"I'll be waiting."

Michiru came back in the room about five minutes later with the lace
teddy on.
"Ready love?"
"Ready as I'll ever be." Haruka smiled as the night enveloped them
and they became one.

E-mail me and tell me how you liked it or hated it. If enough people tell me
that they liked it, then I will write a sequel about the events of later on
in the month. Such as, their wedding, etc. I have a lot of people that I can
credit to inspiring me to write this fanfic, but the list would be almost as
long as this story, so I'm going to shut up now because I'm rambling.
