FAR AWAY SO CLOSE

Far away so close.

Everything was happiness and joy. Sadness and fear were far behind.
People gathered together, congratulating each other for this new World
to begin; the party being held to promote firendship, to reinforce the
promise of the union, the respect for each other and the loyalty to
their new Queen and King. Everything was smiles and hugs and kisses now
that evil had been defeated and Crystal Tokyo was raised. The senshis
and their gobernors offered a party to all their new servantes for them
to join in their joy and pride.
The wine ran like a river stream. Laughters and music covered all the
edges. Lights and sparkles danced throughout the palace. Everything
seemed to be just fine.
But there was a couple on one of the edges, far away from their
emperors, that did not show to be too well at all. Two senshis. One was
tall, blonde, with green eyes and thin lips, dressed in a white-blue
fucku with a yellow bow in her chest, and glaring at the party with a
strange sight. Unrecognizable for everybody, but certainly not a one of
joy. Her long and powerful arms were surrounding protectevly a smaller
senshi, who was curled up in those arms, but also gazing at the ball.
She was shorter, though tall for the average; her long aqua hair fell
upon her shoulders on a cascade fashion, framing her beautiful and
stetic face perfectly. Her lips were slightly red, thin, temptating,
and her eyes had the oceanīs depth in that green colour. She was also
dressed in her sailor fucku, but hers had a deeper blue than her
partnerīs. They should be enjoying the party and their success, but
somehow they were not: soon all the senshis would be assigned to their
respective planets, as their destiny commanded. And that only meant one
thing: theyīd deppart from each other. The shorter one leaned deeper
into her loverīs embrace and sighed at the thought of this future. The
taller one leaned down and, with one of her hands, took ehr
girlfriendīs chin softly, leaned down and kissed the trembling lips
gently.
"Donīt think, Michiru. It hurts more if you do."
"I donīt want to leave you. Thinking of your last touch, of me having
to release your hand as we depart to different places makes my heart
ache." She was in the verge of tears. "And if itīs only when I think,
what will happen when we _do_ sepparate?"
Haruka smiled gently, caressing Michiruīs lips with hers "Youīre so
tender, my love. You could melt away any wall of iron just with one
whisper of yours, did you know that?"
Michiru giggled at this. She loved when Haruka told her such things.
Just to think that nobody would even imagine this side of hers actually
existed...It was only meant for her to know. She sighed again.
"There you go. You are thinking about it again, arenīt you?"
"No" she smiled playfully, "I was just thinking about how wonderful you
are"
Haruka raised her brow and Michiru giggled, for she knew her partnerīs
dissaproval of those kind words. She didnīt accept her own beauty, so
Michiru enjoyed teasing her with them. Although it was reality... True
disguised as falsehood...
Violins started to play, and Michiruīs eyes grew wider in pleasure.
Haruka broke the embrace and faced Michiru, with a sweet smile and shy
movements she extended her hand to the girl.
"Shall we dance, My Lady?"
Michiru made a broad smile, following the game "My pleasure, my Queen"
Haruka was about to protest, but Michiru silenced her with a soft kiss
on the lips as she took her hand. They moved towards the center of the
dancefloor, locking their eyes with one another, aware that everybody
were moving away to let them pass, for they were admired in all the
kingdom. Not only for their beauty, nor for their strength and
accomplishments during the battles, or for the devotion for each other,
but also because they were very good dancers. Without losing their
sight, they started to dance softly, sweetly, as if they were melting
into a dream.
Michiru put her head upon Harukaīs chest, hearing the pounding heart,
relaxing into the movements of her chest as she breathed. Haruka kissed
Michiruīs hair and smelled her perfume, closing her eyes. She broke the
silence first.
"We wonīt be appart that long, you know?" Michiru oppened up her eyes
in surprise, "I wonīt let you be away from me too much"
"Haruka?... wha..?"
"Iīve talked with Pluto. She told me that even when weīre in peace,
gatherings at the palace for different purposes are held frequently;
besides she managed for us to be Odango... Usagiīs counselors. Iīd be
for warfare, and you... something like democratic counselor. It seems
that she agreed."
Michiru cried a soft laugh and embraced Haruka harder. Then hesitated.
"But... counseling meetings are held _every ten years_!! that means
weīll be together only a week every decade!... thatīs still too much
time separated..."Michiru rested her head again into Harukaīs chest,
sad and a little disappointed.
Haruka sighed. "I... Iīm sorry I couldnīt get something better. I..."
"Shhhhh..." Michiru hushed her, not moving from her chest "Listen. Can
you hear it?." she leaned back and took Harukaīs both hands that were
holding her waist, and put one upon the blondeīs chest and the other in
her own, covering them with her hands.
"Can you feel it? these are our hearts, beating as one. As you may
notice, yours goes slower though stronger than mine. But thereīs a
point were they both beat at the same rythm, as if they were a single
heart. So we will. Maybe our worlds are going to be apart from one
another, but there still will be a point were theyīll meet, were our
lives will be together again... when we will be as one. Maybe a year
will pass, maybe more or less. But days pass, and there is always the
future to come. We will always be together at the end."
Haruka laughed softly, with tears threatening to show.
"Such a poet babe! I was about to say the same!"

--------

The wind was blowing strong upon the hills. All the senshis were ready
to leave; facing their princess, who was talking to them,
congratulating them for their braveness and behaivor, thanking them for
their support, encouraging them into going to their respective planets
to protect the kingdom and to go back home. They embraced each other
and made a big hug all together, some of them sobbing, some already
crying (namely, Usagi and Minako) and positioned themselves, getting
ready for the departure. Usagi was about to proceed when she realized
that two senshis were lacking. Pluto put her hand upon Usagiīs
shoulder.
"Donīt worry. Send them as planned. Iīll take care of Uranus and
Neptune."
Usagi was going to protest, but Pluto made her take a glance at the
hilltop. They were there, embracing each other, as they had been for
the last days after peace came and they were told they had to separate.
It seemed as if they wanted to feel and touch each other in
compensation for the years of farawayness ahead. Usagi nodded as she
faced the ready senshis, and Pluto headed towards her friends... once
her family.
A beam of light illuminated them, telling them the senshis were already
gone, but they hardly noticed. Facing Michiru, Haruka had both hands on
her waist, as the the turquoise-haired girl had hers upon Harukaīs
jaws, caressing them along with her neck and earlobe, trying to fight
the tears, but letting a tear drop from time to time, which Haruka
cleaned with soft kisses. At first they were talking nonsense, trying
to avoid the painfull conversation, but ending up recomforting each
other. Michiru, of course, was the first one to shed tears, but Haruka
soon followed, as she was weeping them away.
"Will you write me everyday?" Michiru asked among tears. Haruka
couldn't do but laugh at it.
"Thereīs no mail service among planets, love. What am I supposed to
do?"
"Thatīs _your_ problem!" Michiru giggled at her and then embraced her.
Her heart ached. This things would soon disappear.
Haruka opened up her mouth, but took a glance above the aqua hair and
saw Pluto approaching them, along the hill. Trying not Michiru
noticing, Haruka stopped Pluto with a sign of her hand, begging her to
wait a little longer, promising she would take care of the subject.
Setsuna nodded and started to leave. Haruka sighed and loose the
embrace to face Michiru, but she held her closer, knowing what was
about to happen.
"Michiru, itīs..."
"Donīt..." she pleadded. Words werenīt needed. Michiru knew, for she
felt Harukaīs slight movements... she knew her so well.
"Haruka?... kiss me. I beg you." Haruka was astonsished. It was the
first time Michiru asked her kiss, specially with such desperation. She
leaned towards her and Michiru grabbed her neck with such strength that
Haruka almost fell. The kiss was deep, passionated, expressing every
strong feeling that was shivering their bodies. It was heaven, but they
flet as if they were two fallen angels pushed away from their paradise.

It lasted a lifetime, and Haruka was calling all the strength whe could
grab from her will (for her heart was bleeding) to brake the embrace,
but Michiru was the one who separated. She was always like that, the
mature one, though the most sensitive too. Michiru took Harukaīs arm
and they both went down the hill, speechless.
When arriving in front of Usagi, she watched them with such love, and
embraced them so tenderly, that they almost cried. They were going to
positionate themselves, but Usagi grabbed Michiruīs hand.
"You are to stay with me a little longer. I need your advice."
Michiru nodded. Usagi used her powers into Haruka and her body went
brighter by the minute. Their eyes locked, Haruka shed a tear, while
Michiru was fighting them with all her might. Seh couldnīt let herself
cry, she had to be strong for the both of them. They agreed that in
silence. Haruka was allowed to cry, while Michiru just received... but
she couldnīt. She loved Haruka so much... just too much. Her body
started to shiver, her heart was bleeding, her knees trembling and the
necessity of crying overwhelmed her. She ran towards a shining Haruka,
almost disappeared already. She hugged her, soacked in tears.
"Iīm sorry, love,"Michiru sobbed "I donīt have the strength to let you
go as if nothing was happening..."
The blonde hugged her, also in tears, caressing her hair, but not able
to speak. They remained like that few seconds then Michiru looked up,
searching Harukaīs green eyes.
"Do you remember our house, the one we had after defeating Mistress 9?
do you remember how happy we were on those times?"
Haruka smiled gently "Of course I remember. How could I ever forget? in
fact, those days never leave my mind, they stay with me all the way on
the road."
"Then, may I ask you a favor?"
Haruka tried to read those eyes, but could only see pain, desperation,
and love... the deepest love the world would ever meet.
"Yes, everything you want out of me, youīll have it." Haruka leaned
down, and planted a soft kiss on the beloved lips, finishing the
sentence with it.
"Then," continued Michiru "promise me youīll dream about that place
every night. Iīll dream about it too, and then, maybe someday, weīll
meet in our dreams. Will you do that for me?"
But Haruka was melting away in the light. Michiru almost didnīt see the
details on her face, not able to face the light for it was too much for
her eyes. They both realized they had few seconds together. Haruka
smiled and dried away Michiruīs tears, who didnīt feel her touch as
vivd as always. Then Haruka disappeared form Michiruīs arms.
"I promise." were the last words the beautiful senshi heared from her
lover.
Michiru fell on her knees, weeping uncontrolably. Usagi didnīt move for
a moment, also crying but silently, respecting the senshiīs moan. Then
grabbed the woman into a fraternal embrace, allowing her to shed all
the tears she needed. After a moment, Michiru stood up, smiling at the
blonde.
"Letīs move Usagi. We have many things to do."
Usagi saw the red eyes. Could trace the path tears had left in the
beautyīs eyes. But the expression wasnīt one of pain, the usual a
person would have after loosing someone loved. No, it was determination
and pride what she read on that face.
"B...but, Michiru-san, are you feeling ok. now?"
Michiru smiled, thanking the sweet girl inwardly. "Of course I feel
good, Usagi-chan! why wouldnīt I be ok.?"
"B-but... Haruka...?"
Michiru hushed the younger girl with her finger.
"Itīs allright Usagi-san. She promised me we would be together someday.
She promised she would come back to me."
Laughing at the youngerīs sight of bewilderment, Michiru embraced her,
almost cheerfully, seeng that Usagi was still astonished. Then she
stopped laughing, closed her eyes and, without Usagi notincing, shed a
tear.
"She promised me... she will love me... forever."

End.
