EarthBound is a most kickass game for the SNES. It's the story of four children thrust out of ordinary lives to save everything they know from an ultimate evil. It's not a typical RPG in that it's in a more modern setting, with cars, ATMs, and delivery pizza, and the main characters are children with odd weapons such as baseball bats and frying pans. You play the role of Ness, a young boy whose life takes a strange turn when a meteorite crashes onto a hill in his placid hometown of Onett. From here he meets a strange insectoid being called Buzz Buzz, who informs Ness of a strange prophecy detailing his amazing destiny. From there you set out to collect the haunting melodies of power from eight Sanctuaries scattered across the world of Eagleland. Along the way you meet up with three others: Paula, a very powerful psychokinetic; Jeff, a brilliant boy capable of turning almost anything into a weapon; and Poo, a prince from a country to the East with astounding mental abilities. What follows is a journey spanning the world, the past, illusion, and even Ness' mind! Nowhere is safe from Giygas' influence over the evil in the minds of living things, and everywhere there are problems needing to be solved, new races to discover, and new land to explore. Creatures once innocent are sparked to violence to hamper your progress. People once ordinary are given incredible power to stop you, and those once friends turn out to be enemies. Even with amazing psychic abilities, a kid's work is never finished. And that's before your homework...
