Broken Tides

Above a roaring ocean stand
Perched high on trembling cliff
I cry a silent calling clear
To mend a tearing riff

You have to help me here and now
Please catch me as I fall
For now I know just what you do
You keep me standing tall

In all those times my strength was great
I thought it mine alone
But now I know the truth of that
I wasn’t on my own

I cannot stand all by myself
On you I need to lean
You have more strength than I alone
That fact now seems to gleam

Your love I took for granted
I pushed you as you fell
But if I began to tumble
You stood and held me well

Yet I took more than you gave me
And now I stand alone
And my precipice is breaking
As my soul heaves solemn a moan

I need you here beside me,
Not ‘low me as I thought
Not to catch me as I fall
But keep that strong will taught

Not just it times of turmoil,
Not just in times of woe,
But here beside me always
To never let me go

I’m sorry that I hurt you
Ignored you as you yearned
But now you are my teacher
Please help me now, I’ve learned

My strength and savior always
And always you will be
Not to let me fall again
But to stand, always, by me.
