STARWAYS LEAD THY WARRIOR HOME

Warrior rode ‘long winding path
Strong body at its breach
She raised her sword to crimson sky
And clouds beyond her reach Defiant, strong-boned, weathered face
Homes hard determined chin
Eyes of clear and icy blue
Hair blows with solemn wind Steady holds her hidden fear
Her demon deep inside
Blood-passion licks a dormant soul
While sorrow hide A silent song to sing a lifetime
A fight to bring her rest
The gentle calm of ending true
A warrior’s life thy blessed

She cried to Goddess watching
Her last long forlorn leave
And gazed toward a heady sky
A breast heave

She raised her steed to yonder clam
And pat its weary neck
Peace filled silent heart
And settled ancient wreck

She rode across wide empty field
On a beast of weary bone
And headed for distant starlight
Thy new home

She cooed horse into riding
A cantor for an end
A long and unknown journey
On life-long friend

Her demon is abolished
Surrender now to peace
A race t’ward ancient starway
To thank thee kind beast

To once again be joined with friends
Her father by her side
Her brother’s arms around her waist
No sorrow left to hide

And now end borne of honor
Two turn-head and leave
An earth bids both farewell
End’s breeze

She slowed her steed and shouted;
"May Gaea Guide Thy Will!"
Then galloped on to freedom
From an earth rest still

A warriors’ end
An end for a steed
A night filled with calm
As a grateful soul is freed

A wind whips deserted field
Where once lone warrior rode
And bids strong lass fair journey
From silent abode

Star shine brightly to guide their journ’,
Swift steed and she alone,
Where once thy solemn life path lay
Now shall bring thee home
