Bigraphy

Shannen was born in Memphis, Tennessee. At the age of seven, her family moved to Los Angeles. Her father, Tom, works at a bank and her mother, Rosa, is the owner of a beauty parlour.

Shannen has developed a reputation for being difficult. She was let go from 90210 at the end of the fourth season (1994) for conflicts with the other cast members and late appearances on the set. Ms. Doherty also angered director William Friedkin when she failed to turn up for the first day of shooting Jailbreakers. Friedkin's first reaction was to call auditions and look at 12 other actresses to take the part. He ultimately decided to stick with Doherty.
