Announcer: Welcome to the first thrilling episode of "The WENN Files." Insiders Scott Sherwood and Betty Roberts are seeking the truth behind some unanswered questions posed by you, the listening public. We find the dynamic duo in the writer's room sorting through the throng of mail they have received since the show was first announced.
Sherwood: Hey, Betty, what exactly is "The WENN Files"?
Roberts: Don't call me Betty. During this show I'm Roberts and you're Sherwood. "The WENN Files" is a new show on W-E-N-N written by our latest and strangest intern. She's trying to bring the truth to the listening public about everything that goes on at WENN.
Sherwood: Okay, Roberts. But won't this be kind of boring?
Roberts: Well, I guess some people have become a bit obsessive over our shows. I don't quite understand myself, but...
Sherwood: Okay, let's move on to the first question. This comes from Jane Smith of Pittsburgh. "When Victor first came to the radio station to meet his contact, the time was around four-thirty in the afternoon. However, when the whole conflict was over, the time was around eight in the evening. What happened during the three and a half hours?"
Well, Roberts, I don't really remember. I was too busy worrying about getting shot by Victor and then about you getting shot. What did happen?
Roberts: (in a tsking tone) Sherwood, Sherwood, Sherwood. How could you forget? During those three and a half hours Rollie Pruitt and Victor had a staring contest. But Victor cracked pretty quickly that Pruitt suggested playing Russian roulette, but Victor had enough sense not to do that. So Victor whipped out his camera and they took pictures of themselves. Victor and Pruitt even had time to develop the photos and put them in frames on the wall.
Sherwood: Ohhhh. Interesting. Here's a letter for you, Roberts.
Roberts: This question is posed by Robert Mattson from Des Moines, Iowa. Hmmm. I never knew our signal went that far. I'll have to tell C.J. Anyway, he says, "I have a question for Betty. How come when she was trying to open the letter to determine who Victor's contact was she kept turning off the light? To me, that would make the fact that she was trying to hide something even more obvious."
Well, I--
Sherwood: Robert, Roberts here is from a small town in Indiana. She may feel that she is accustomed to city life, but a part of her is still stuck in that small town. Therefore, she feels that in order for something to be secretive, it must be done in the dark.
(sound of a punch in the arm) OW! Roberts, I only meant--
Roberts: Sherwood, let's continue. (Door opening and slamming shut. Betty sounds shocked.) Assistant Director Comstock! What are you doing here?
Asst. Director Comstock: I'm afraid I'm here to shut down "The WENN Files."
Sherwood: (aghast) But we just started today!
Asst. Director Comstock: I'm afraid that a higher authority than I. Or is it me?
Roberts: Enough grammar.
Asst. Director Comstock: A higher authority has decided to shut down this opporation. You will both be assigned to normal duties - acting, writing, etc.
Sherwood: (determinedly) Never! The truth IS out there. And I am determined to broadcast it!
Announcer: What will happen to "The WENN Files"? Tune in next week to find out what Sherwood has decided to do to keept the truth alive.
