Well, here they are, a few snapshots of our May, 1998 trip into the UCLA tunnels. For the sake of incorporating something "new" into a page that doesn't really need updating, I've added the original message I posted to the Underground mailing list shortly after our trip. I have no plans to venture back into the tunnels anytime soon, but if anyone has anything to add to this page, email at the address below. - MM
It's the infamous bridge! None of our pictures really do the bridge justice, but this is about what you'll see when first entering the area. The bricks are part of the original structure. Beyond the railing is a drop of thirty feet or so, and the "toilet bowl graveyard," although its contents are almost completely submerged in mud.

Another shot from the opposite direction. As far as I know, those concrete beams were added for support when the sides of the bridge were filled in 1947.
A fenced supply area under the bridge, housing communications equipment. Very exciting.
Some equipment we found in the sub-basement of Royce Hall. Also in this room were what appeared to be steam-powered air conditioners.
Here we had just emerged from one of the tunnel system's tighter spots, under Powell library. We all had to slither over and under those pipes, as well as plenty of ominous-looking conduit.
Here is a typical stretch of tunnel. Very narrow, with the telcom/network cable on the left, and steam pipes on the right.
