Mr. PArker

Mr. Parker

This is Mr. Parker. He's a self-involved self-preservationist, who isn't above lying to his daughter, or putting his family members into jeopardy, to get what he wants. (In the episode "A Stand Up Guy", Mr. Parker insisted that Miss Parker become an assassin for him, in order to "protect" himself.) He's often found working in unison with The Centre's notorious Mr. Raines, but hinted to Miss Parker that he had been responsible for putting Raines in jeopardy in Boston because Raines had overstepped his authority. "...Hard for a man like Raines to end up in hospital when he's safe behind his desk, don't you think?" We later learned that it was Sydney who had actually fired the shot in Boston that left Mr. Raines in The Centre ICU for several months.

Mr. Parker is deliberately evasive when it comes to questions about the death of his wife Catherine. He keeps putting Miss Parker off with catch phrases like "when I can tell you more, I will" and "trust me", but Miss Parker has gotten to the point now where those phrases just aren't enough anymore. With Jarod's help, she's learning more about her family than perhaps she ever really wanted to know.

In the "Toy Surprise" episode, the writers tried to "soften" Mr. Parker's character a bit by showing us a DSA of the day of his wife's death, when, after he believed he was alone, he broke down into tears and collapsed on a staircase. We don't know, though, if he was in on Catherine's assassination, or not. We DID, however, see Mr. Parker's affect harden again in the "Amnesia" episode when he subjected his daughter to the trauma and humiliation of a T-Board examination at The Centre. Afterwards, he told Miss Parker to her face that she looked horrible... then laughed and said it was just a joke. Gee, what a nice dad -- NOT.

In the "Bank" episode, we saw Mr.Parker colluding with Mr. Raines in an attempt, outside the Dover Town Bank, to assassinate Mr. Fenigor. This action, in response to the fact that both Miss Parker and Jarod discovered who Mr. Fenigor was, where he did his banking business, and that he was getting "pay off" money from The Centre -- or more specifically, Mr. Parker -- to keep his mouth shut about PRODIGY, Jarod's abduction, and the death of Catherine Parker.

In the "Bloodlines" episode, Mr. Parker nearly had a full-fledged cardiac episode when he found out that Miss Parker's fraternal twin brother had not been stillborn. Mr. Parker had, we were lead to believe, accepted the fact that when Catherine Parker gave birth to the twins, the boy child had been born dead. Mr. Parker discovered, however, that the boy had survived, and had been taken away by Mr. Raines to be part of the PRODIGY project. According to Jarod's research, this boy twin was either the boy "Timmy" (Angelo) or "Bobby" (Mr. Lyle). Since Mr. Parker had been spending the last season of "The Pretender" trying to upstage and kill Mr. Lyle it was ironic when he discovered that Lyle was actually his own son. Mr. Parker then saw to it that Lyle was reinstated in The Centre, as one of the pursuers of Jarod.
