COMMENTS : Once again, the Bulldogs fans came out to Stadium Australia for this Grand Final replay. After 3 minutes they were on the ropes though when Sailor swooped on a loose Bulldog pass to intercept and run 90 metres to score the opening try. However Canterbury weren't intimidated. Through some Stuart magic and hard running up the middle they kept in the game all the way. Along with some pin point kicking from El-Masri, the Dogs survived a last minute rampage from the Broncos to win! The Broncos have now lost their first 5 games of the 99 season. A record losing streak for them (equalling their 1989 efforts). It is a VERY long way back for them now....

COMMENTS : How could you tip against the bunnies at Easter? The final scoreline doesn't really reflect the game. Souths let in 2 late tries to almost snatch defeat from the jaws of victory but where the better team all day. Sean Garlick, Craig Wing and Darrell Trindall all kept their form up with masterful performances. Manly did look better however and with Steve Menzies back in the forwards they looked to be hungrier than they have been all season. However, the Rabbitohs are hungrier for a big season and it looks like no-one will get in their way!

COMMENTS : Once again, the Tigers played with passion and determination for a side on the verge of merger or termination. They out-hustled the Warriors all over the park in the second half to sore a memorable victory for all Tigers fans. An incident occured in this game where Ridge 'man-handled' the referee after he awarded the Field Goal. Action will be taken, probably in the form of a fine. Reminiscent of Blockers 'pat on the head'.

COMMENTS : The struggling Cowboys were never in the hunt in this game, and although it was their first home game of the season, it wasn't enough to get them home against Fittler and co.

B Mackay 0/1

R Wishart 0/1

COMMENTS : The Dragons coach, David Waite, decided to go with 8 ex-Illawarra players in his team for this game, and for the first game down the South Coast it was a smart thing to do. The crowd got behind their newly merged team and with Barrett starting to settle at halfback and Mundine playing like he should, the Dragons performed well to completely out play the previously undefeated Bears. The Bears had handling problems all day and therefore couldn't get down to the Dragons goal-line. Some serious defensive lapses let the Dragons in for several soft tries. Ex-Steelers Wishart and MacGregor played standout games to push for Origin selections later in the season.

M Rogers 4/4
M Geyer 2/3
COMMENTS : The Sharks are STILL undefeated! This time they out hustled and out defended the surging Storm to record a gutsy victory at Olympic Park. After previous come from behind victories from the Storm, one would have expected them to do it again, but the Sharks defence held in the last 10 minutes while the Storm got edgy and impatient. Mat Rogers and David Peachey were the standouts for the Sharks, while Lazarus and Robbie Ross played strongly for the losing side.

COMMENTS : This was a scrappy game, but it only took one player to do the damage. Ryan Girdler scored all of the points in this game, and Penrith never looked liked losing. Parramatta just couldn't score and barely troubled the Panthers defence. The Panthers lost Greg Alexander before the game and were expected to be beaten, but their attack kept the Eels on the back foot. Looks like it is back to the drawing board for the Eels, who face the Roosters next week who also kept them point-less 2 weeks ago.

COMMENTS : The Knights did the job that they needed to do,but it did take longer than you would expect. It was 6-2 well into the second half when suddenly Newcastle kicked into gear and scored 4 quick tries. Wests looked a lot better than they have and can take some heart from this match against the classy Knights outfit.
