Chris Owens, age 37, was born in Toronto but moved to Vancouver in 1996, just in time to land his first role on THE X-FILES, as the Young Cigarette Smoking Man in "Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man." He played Young CSM again in "Demons" as well as The Great Mutato in "The Post-Modern Prometheus," before being cast in the recurring role of Agent Jeffrey Spender. Chris has reportedly been signed to do as many as twelve more episodes this year, so we may be seeing a lot more of him!

Fans of THE X-FILES may be interested to know that Chris starred in a movie with Nicholas Lea (Agent Krycek, AKA "Ratboy"). It was called THEIR SECOND CHANCE. Chris was Lindsay Wagner's son, Nick was the boyfriend of her daughter.

Chris is reportedly a good friend of Brendan Beiser (Agent Pendrell). Let's hope Spender doesn't share Pendrell's fate!

Chris has moved to Los Angeles with THE X-FILES. He drives a black two-door Honda Civic. And yes, he has a girlfriend - not actor Laura Leigh Hughes, as is widely rumored, but a University of Victoria law student named Tara. I think it's safe to assume that she's not dating him for his car....
