Anna Brecon

Tribute to Emmerdale's Lady Chatterley

Sunset Beach may be no longer on terrestrial TV but at least there's a home grown show which has taken the crown of most outrageous soap on the box.

Emmerdale has entered new heights of wonder in recent weeks, thanks largely to the reappearance of sexy Lady Tara Thornfield (Anna Brecon).

Who could forget her big party a couple of weeks ago when the latterday answer to Lady Chatterley returned to a lukewarm reception from the locals?

Relishing in her role as soapland's most eloquent femme fatale, Brecon may have failed to shrug off the 'Posh Soap' label but at least looks set to pick up another gong at next year's National TV Awards.

For those who haven't seen it in a while, the series is heaving with other delicious characters, all of them looking like they've wandered in from Stars in Their Eyes.

There's Frankie (Madeleine Bower), who tonight Matthew, will be Ellen DeGeneres. In the background there's Roy (Nicky Evans), a not bad Liam Gallagher impersonator and look out for Stephen McGann (complete with huge chip on his shoulder).

His character, Sean, is clearly not too bright as he decided to try out one of Tara's beds with his wife, and didn't bother locking the door.

There's also Tim Vincent, who some critics have labelled more wooden than the bar at the Woolpack.

Old staples like Seth Armstrong (Stan Richards), Mandy Dingle (the excellent Lisa Riley) and Jack Sugden (Clive Hornby) keep it rooted in a form of reality - the show would probably float away without them.

But at the end of the day, this is Anna Brecon's show and now that Tara is broke, it makes the drama juicier than ever.
