In the year 2020, because there are an extremely high number of elderly Japanese, Katsuhiro Otomo created the perfect nurse. He created a robot, the Z-001, that could feed, bathe, exercise, monitor health, and entertain the elderly.
One day, Mr. Takazawa, a member of the elderly popular, is taken from his home and put into one of Z-001 units against the will of his young nurse, Haruko. She believes that a machine cannot care for a person as well as a real person could and does all she can to rescue Takazawa. After all, no one knew if Mr. Takazawa actually felt good being in the Z-001.
But when Haruko gets a strange message while in the computer lab, she figures that it must be Takazawa calling for help. Haruko and her friends decide to break into the place where Takazawa is being held and return him to his proper home. They escape with the help of the Z-001 which transforms into a super machine. All hell breaks loose when the Z-001 gains the knowledge of Takazawa's wife and decides to take him to the beach. With its great power, it is able to suck other machinery into itself and grow even larger. It is up to Haruko to stop this menace.
