SoapCity's Announecement
"It's not the size of the dreamer, it's the size of the dream" was his motto. Josh Ryan Evans had big dreams. Born January 10, 1982 with achondroplasia, a form of congenital dwarfism, Josh spent a lot of time in the hospital. Movies were a great escape for him during that time, and he dreamed of being an actor. Those dreams were soon realized, making him happier than one could imagine. When asked once who he would want to be for a day, he answered, "I can't imagine being someone else. I love my life, and I'm honored to have it."
Taking his destiny in his own hands at age 12, he had business cards printed up with the simple message, "Joshua Ryan Evans -- kid" which he handed out to producers and directors. One Hollywood agent took notice, and the rest was history. Josh went on to star in movies such as How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Baby Geniuses. His television roles included a stand-out performance as a child prodigy lawyer on Ally McBeal and Tom Thumb in the A&E miniseries P.T. Barnum, but the role that stole our hearts was Timmy, the living doll, on NBC's Passions. Fans gathered around sets daily to cheer the many adventures of Timmy and Tabitha in Harmony. Who could forget Timmy decked out in Saturday Night Fever garb or skipping down the yellow brick road? He won two consecutive Soap Opera Digest awards as Outstanding Scene Stealer. In 2001, he received a Daytime Emmy Nomination as Outstanding Younger Actor. Josh always had time for his fans. Looking pale but with a huge smile, he answered questions from the fans and signed autographs at the recent Passions Fan Event.
Josh Ryan Evans passed away at a hospital in San Diego as a result of a long existing heart problem. He once said, "It's nice when your heroes are better than you thought they could be." Yes it is, Josh. Yes it is.
