John Hannah: 40%

In this resurrection of the British film industry, John plays the gay lover of Simon Callow. His pithy understated delivery is an effective contrast to Hugh Grant's stammerings and blusterings and he's a real scene stealer. As for the film, what can I write that hasn't been said already? I saw it three times at the cinema and even now can find something new in it each time I watch it. Richard Curtis, scriptwriter of Blackadder, developed the film and this has much to do with the way it balances sadness and comedy so well. Of course the fact that much of the action takes place in the drama-laden environs of various wedding days and that the guys look great in morning suits also helps!

• Bonuses: Kristen Scott Thomas is brilliant as always. If there's every a BluSh female equivalent, she will be a founder member.
• Drawbacks: Andi MacDowell and her wooden delivery. She kills the line of "Is it still raining? I hadn't noticed." Aargh! Add some irony girl!
• Extras: The film was severely underbudgeted. Therefore that fantastic landscape shot of a Scottish glen was done by one of the cameramen when he was on holiday, and John Hannah's new lover at the end is played by one of the assistant directors, as they couldn't afford an actor!
