An Ideal Husband

Period Costume Rupert Everett: 90% Jeremy Northam: 90%

A fantastic cast (Cate Blanchett and Minnie Driver) + Oscar Wilde as scriptwriter + the boys in period costume = An Ideal Film. Much as I love Jeremy, the show is definitely stolen by Rupert Everett who as always makes everyone else in a tuxedo look like they've hired them from Moss Bros. You know how the Batman suit is moulded to its wearer? Rupert's ensemble has that kind of effect!

With pithy put-downs you swear you'll remember for the next time you need to avoid marriage with a scheming American, this film is faultless. Plus Edwardian fashion is the best. In fact the expense of my Millennium Eve's gown was justified by the thought that it could prompt the dashing Lord Goring to appear. No such luck, but then I'm not Minnie Driver!
