Love Actually

Love Actually (not to be confused with Hove Actually on the South coast*) is pure romcom heaven. The very loose plot is about the love lives of various Londoners in the run up to Christmas. But it is so much more. Mr Curtis, with all these hot actors you are really spoiling us! Take your pick from:

Weddings, funerals, Emma Thompson as a capable wife, Martine McCutcheon not being that annoying actually, Bill Nighy as a hysterical ageing rocker ... Yes it's cheesey and sentimental, but also romantic, uplifting and the killer Curtis lines remind you that the author of Blackadder and Bridget Jones's Diary is at the helm.

The film is also a love letter to London in winter, with skating at Somerset House, views across the Thames to St Pauls and chic city streets full of Christmas lights. As a professed non-fan of London's crowds, dirt and the Tube even I warmed towards it!
