Cye Mouri
I've been quite disappointed with the way Cye has been portrayed in a lot of the fanfics I've read. Many times they make him far too wimpy and whiny and girly and he cries a lot. That really bugs me. Cye may not be the most masculine of all the Ronins but really, he can't be THAT bad! I mean, he's still the oldest of the group so you'd think he would be a bit more mature than that.
The way that I picture Cye is this: Yes, he does seem to have more of a gentle--maybe even feminine nature and that's probably due to the fact that he was raised by women with really no male role model. And in my fanfic, he does have a tendency to complain every now and then. But that's mostly because my Rowen's got a mean streak in him. Ever since Cye said those famous words about Rowen "Can't we just go on without him?" I've made these two have a tendency to get on each other's nerves. Cye likes to turn to his big buddy Kento for protection when Rowen's teasing him because my dear little Cye usually doesn't like to resort to physical violence. Unless Rowen really is asking for a whooping. ;)
In my fanfic, I've actually given Cye a chance for his more mature side to shine with the introduction of my own character Robyn. He's had to act like something of a parental figure for her because she has little common sense and really doesn't take care of herself that well. But at the same time he also ends up sounding too much like a parent when he lectures her every five
minutes. *laughs* Poor Cye. I really do think he puts up with way too much. But thankfully, as Robyn gets better, Cye will get better, too.
I see Cye as a worrier. Almost as much as Ryo. And I can actually see him as more the voice of reason in the group since Sage usually keeps quiet and to himself. But Cye also likes to have fun and he and Kento can get in a lot of trouble together. Cye also places a lot of value on friendship and his integrity is very important to him. And also like Ryo he's a horrible liar.
