When Mulder investigates a potential x-file about a monster "lurking in the open" upon Skinner's request, he never thought he would be caught in a hostage situation. Scully quickly come to Mulde's aid, just to find him being held hostage by a telemarketer holding a rifle, insisting that his boss was a monster, and the he turns people into zombies. In the haze of the chaotic situation, the telemarketer was shot. But that wasn't the end of it, for Mulder had seen what the dead telemarketer had seen -- the monster, while no one else believes him, except for his one in five billion -- Scully.
