I want to point out that there are an infinitestimal amount of mistakes being made throughout the series. Some are serious, some are ridiculous, some are minor, some are barely noticable. There are people who spent all their time rewatching every single episode to try to find out tiny little mistakes the X-Files people make during the filming. But don't worry, I'm not one of them. Though I feel like I should point out some of the obvious mistakes here. I'm not picking on every single episode, just some general ones they've made......
Error #1:
Throughout the entire series, Mulder and Scully have encountered numerous occasions in which they have to use their weapons. And, it is not unusual when you see either of them holding their guns UPWARDS, or in other words, pointing it towards the ceiling or the sky, when they have to bust in doors through houses, apartments, warehouses, etc. WRONG! NEVER POINT YOUR GUN UPWARDS! It is very DANGEROUS to do so. You ALWAYS point your guns DOWNWARDS! That way if your gun goes off accidentally, the most you can do is lose some toes. But if you point your gun skyward, you can blow your head off! Don't do that!
Error #2:
When Mulder and Scully or any other agents/detectives gather evidence from a crime scene, you almost always see them use plastic evidence bags. WRONG! When you gather evidence, especially powders and liquids and such, you use CONTAINERS! That way you don't contaminate them. Plastic bags can react with some substances, and they melt at low temperatures. For powders and liquid-like substances, you use GLASS CONTAINERS, WOODEN BOXES, etc. Although plastic evidence bags are used, it is NOT always the case.
Error #3:
There are numerous occasions when Mulder and Scully went into potential crime scenes alone. WRONG! You ALWAYS WAIT FOR BACKUP! That way someone will know if you gets hurt or killed. And if you just can't wait for backup, you just NEVER go in by yourself. ALWAYS HAVE SOMEONE WITH YOU. If you don't have a team of people for backup, at least have a partner with you. You are supposed to investigate something TOGETHER with your partner, which is what the partnership is for in the first place. That way someone will always know when something has happened to you that needed immediate attention. If you got injured, your partner can call paramedics right away and you won't end up dying slowly and painfully while waiting for someone to come and find you.
Error #4:
Mulder is famous for his tampering with evidence and touching everything without proper protection throughout the X-Files series. WRONG! Whenever you are at a crime scene, the first thing you do before you touch anything is to put on some latex gloves. They're not just for protecting yourself from potential health hazards like poisons and acids and such, but also for preventing you from contaminating the evidence itself. Your hands are full of bacteria and germs and virus and dust and all kinds of materials you don't want to get on to the evidence. And secondly, that way you won't end up having your fingerprints all over the place. If you don't have your gloves on, you aren't even allowed to touch anything! And, there's just one scene from the episode Revelations, in which one of the most absurd mistake had take place. At the crime scene, Mulder, which no latex gloves whatsoever, scooped up some blood-like substance with one finger and put it into his mouth. That was ridiculous! The blood-like substance, although turned out to be edible substance, is EVIDENCE. And you just don't EAT evidence. You're not even supposed to touch it without proper protection, much less EAT it. You're risking your own life when you put things like that in your mouth. You don't know if that's harmful to your body or not. What if it was acid or poison? You can end up killing yourself! A similar scene happened in Three Of A Kind, only the one eating up the evidence was the bad guy, not Mulder. But my point remains - YOU JUST DON'T EAT EVIDENCE! What were these people thinking?
Error #5:
Okay, I told myself not to become a nitpicker, but then some mistakes are just so ridiculous I just really have to point it out here. In Terms Of Endearment (someone please inform me if I got the wrong episode, but I'm 100% certain that he did say the following), Mulder had said that he's NOT a psychologist. But just what the hell can someone who graduated top of his class with a psychology degree from university but a psychologist? I know he's an FBI agent, but it's his psychology background that made him a profiler in his early years in the bureau, and the way he could go into serial killer's heads and everything else. And he's NOT A PSYCHOLOGIST???
Error #6:
I'm really becoming a nitpicker......but anywaz, in Emily, Mulder had said that Scully had been abducted by men in the government 4 years ago, and she had vanished for 4 weeks until she was found again, but the correct time of her abduction should be 3 months, which is 8 more weeks than that......script writers please double-check what happened earlier in the series?
Okay, that's it for now. If you can think of anythings else I might add to the above error list, please email me and let me know! Also, if there's anything mistakes or things I've forgotten about, let me know! Thanks!
