Rule #1: Mulder and Scully never die permanently
Emphasis on the word "permanently". Mulder and Scully are mortals, too, although they seemed immortal enough to have survived all the deadly incidents throughout the X-Files series. But, they CAN die. In fact, they've died more times than I can count. For instance, in Duane Berry/Ascension/One Breath, Scully almost died. Even her mother, Margaret Scully, had made a tombstone for her and considered her dead during her 3 months disappearance. It was Mulder who told Mrs. Scully not to give up on her. In the Anasazi/The Blessing Way/Paper Clip trilogy, Mulder had supposedly DIED and come back to life, or so Mulder himself had claimed in Scully's dream. In Gethsemane, Mulder had faked his own death. And even though it was a fraud, for a while he was considered "officially" dead. In Redux/Redux II, Scully was on the brink of death, and her suddenly recovery was nothing short of miraculous. In Monday, both Mulder and Scully had been blown to pieces in a bank robbery over 5 times, but they had both come back to life by some crazy time loop every single time. And until they both didn't die, the time loop just wouldn't end. In Field Trip, Scully found the remains of her partner during their investigation of a bizarre murder. But as the rule applies, it turned out to be Scully's hallucination. Anyway, my point remains - these two CANNOT die permanently!
Rule #2: Minor characters are automatically put on Death Row
Few people can claim to have appeared in an X-Files episode and survived. Supplementary to Rule #1, almost all minor characters DIE! But, there are exceptions to this rule. Pheobe Green from Fire, Detective White from, The Great Mutato from Post Modern Prometheus, and a number of the genetic mutants/aliens/monsters/psychics/abnormal people in general, etc. that I have lost count, survived. But generally, if you're not a regular in the X-Files Universe, just be prepared to receive a Death Certificate in the upcoming future. And to make my point a little further, Albert Hosteen, who first appeared in the Anasazi/The Blessing Way/Paper Clip trilogy, have just recently died from cancer in Biogenesis, the final episode of Season Six. (I was about to put him on the list, too, just the day before I saw Biogenesis, but then I have to make this edit right after I saw it.)
Rule #3: Morleys is the ultimate signature of evil
I guess it's not fair for me to say that Morleys is the signature of CSM. After all, I've seen other people smoked Morleys, too. Morris Fletcher from Dreamland/Dreamland II and Three Of A Kind, for instance. But hey, 4 of the 5 bad guys smoked this brand in the Consortium. And every time someone lights a cigarette in the dark you know it's a bad guy plotting something evil for Mulder and Scully, that is, if you didn't automatically assume that's CSM. (Oh, believe me, I thought it was CSM when Morris Fletcher lighted a cigarette in Dreamland, before the lighter flame showed his face.) And in all the mythology episodes, if you find a Morleys butt somewhere, you know something evil is afoot. So I guess it's save for me to say that, if you smoke Morleys, you're presumably an antagonist - no offense intended.
Rule #4: Mulder and Scully's feelings towards each other is usually platonic.
Okay, this rule is debatable. There are times when the agents' feelings for each other weren't platonic at all. The famous kissing scene in Triangle would be the first thing I expect the 'Shippers to shove down my throat. But before anyone passes any judgements, may I remind you, (no, we're not in the Artic), that it was Chris Carter, the creator of X-Files' idea that the agents' relationship will ALWAYS be platonic. I don't like that particular idea very much myself. (Yes! I'm a 'Shipper, too!) And, ever since the beginning of Season Six, the sexual tension between our famous duo had only increased to a level where no other 'Shipper could bear for another second. Again, the kiss and confession of love in Triangle. And if we go back a little more in time, the jealousy scene when Scully saw Mulder and Fowley (that whore!) together, the dancing scene in Post Modern Prometheus, the sweet moment in the end of Momento Mori......but still, no matter what happened, when it comes to all the official investigations of the X-Files, Mulder and Scully's feelings towards each other is nothing beyond platonic. Now you know why I used the word "usually" instead of "always"......
Okay, that's all I can think of for now. And if I missed anything, forgot anything, or if there's any mistakes I've made, please e-mail me and let me know right away! Also, if you can think of any more rules that should have been up there and isn't, let me know! Thanks!
