I don't think my ratings for this series would be really accurate given the fact that this series was really old and probably made around the time I was born, but I'll try my best. These ratings reflect what my parents thought of the series.
Plot Rating: 9/10

Artist Rating: 8/10

I'm not such a great fan of series made in the 70s because they're just too old for my taste. However, at the time the series was made, I believe it was quite popular.

The Giant is a story of revenge. Lee Ci Kei plays an illegitimate daughter of a rich man. She has always lived in LA but her father and his family lived in Hong Kong. During a business trip, her father and two older half brothers were shot and her two brothers were killed. Her father was heavily injured and could no longer talk. Therefore, Lee Ci Kei returned to Hong Kong to take care of her dad and to help her "dai ma" take care of the company. Some of the people in the family accepted her and others did not. However, her "dai ma" was very nice to her.

After her "dai ma" finds out who killed her two sons and shot her husband, she and Lee Ci Kei come up with a plot for revenge. However, Lee Ci Kei is placed in a very awkward position when she falls in love with the enemy's son, played by Chu Kong. (Chow Yun Fat is Chu Kong's brother). Even though she loves her husband a lot, Lee Ci Kei must sacrifice her marriage for her family revenge. Therefore, Ci Kei and her husband develop many problems. Chu Kong is able to forgive Ci Kei in the end and the two go back to LA. Chow Yun Fat gets together with Ci Kei's niece, played by Chan Mei Kei.

The reason for the shooting goes back to events which happened between Lee Ci Kei's dad and Chu Kong's great uncle. It's very complicated but its suffice to say that everything that caused the shooting was a misunderstanding and all conflicts were resolved at the end of the series.
