The story starts off with Monica and Maggie entering an eating contest and winning the grand prize. The brought home lots big-ticket items. Maggie and Monica are cousins and lives with Monica’s parents. Maggie’s mom is Monica’s mom’s younger sister and she passed away when Maggie was a little girl. Maggie never met her father and thinks he’s dead because that’s what her aunt tells her. Every time Maggie tries to ask her aunt about her father, the aunt would always change the subject and tells her that her father was a jerk for leaving Maggie’s mother and doesn’t want Maggie to talk about him at all. The family is planning to buy a new house where Maggie and Monica can each have their own room. Right now they are sharing a room and are very close. They even work in the same wonton noodle restaurant as waitresses.

The next day at work, Maggie got a phone call from someone saying that her father wants to meet her but she thinks it’s a prank call because she believes that her father is dead. She decided to take a walk. Along the way, she bumped into Nick who is squatting outside the gambling on horses. He has his last coin in his hand and was about to bet on a horse when Maggie bumped into him. He demanded Maggie to pay him back for the lost coin. Maggie didn’t have any lose change so she gave him a $20 dollar bill instead. Nick thanked her and told her he’ll give her the change back the next time he sees her. Maggie just smiled and walked away. Nick kept staring as she walks away and thinks Maggie is pretty.

Later that day, Nick shows up at the restaurant where Maggie and Monica works at as the new chef. Inside the locker room, Monica and Nick was fighting because Nick had ruined something of Monica and Nick refused to take the blame. All the co-workers came in to see what was going on and Nick recognized Maggie. Maggie also recognized Nick and just Monica to forget it. Monica was still annoyed and vowed to get back at Nick.

Back at home, Maggie mentioned the mysterious phone call over dinner. Monica’s parents look at each other and Monica’s dad told Monica’s mom to tell Maggie the truth. She finally did and it turns out that Maggie’s aunt lied to her. Her father is not really dead. So the phone call could really be from Maggie’s dad. Maggie was shocked but forgives them for lying. She decides to call the man back and meet him. Monica’s father reminded Monica to go to the bank the next day and bring the money to the lawyer’s office so they can put a deposit on the new house. Monica promised to be on time.

The next day, Monica goes to the bank, after waiting a long time in line, the teller told her that she couldn’t withdraw that much money without proper identification. Monica explained that she is in a hurry and needs the cashier’s check today. The bank manger comes over to see what the problem is (played by Roger Kwok). Roger okays the transaction because he knows Monica personally. Since the transaction took so long, Monica decided to take a taxi to the lawyer’s office. A taxi is in sight but someone else got into the taxi at the same time as Monica. It was Nick. They started fighting over the taxi. Monica became frustrated and grabbed Nick’s stuff and threw it out the window. Nick had to get out of the taxi to pick up his stuff and Monica took off in the taxi. A few minutes later, Monica realized that the envelope containing the check was missing. She was about to tell the driver to turn back when Nick pulled up in another taxi waving the envelope around. Before Monica could ask him to give it back to her, Nick took off in his taxi. Monica arrived late to the lawyer’s office without the money so the owner increased the price and gave them only a few more days with the money. The parents yelled at Monica for losing the check and Monica vowed to get back at Nick. As they were walking out of the office, Nick comes in returning the check to the lawyer. Monica and Nick got into anther fight.

Meanwhile, Maggie is having dinner with her dad and they both were having a great time. Maggie’s dad turned out to be a rich businessman from overseas, and he didn’t know Maggie’s mom was pregnant when they lost touch after college. When he found out he had a daughter, he immediately hired a private detective to tracked her down. Maggie was happy to learn that her father didn’t abandon the two of them and began telling him her past. Maggie’s dad asked to see a picture of Maggie’s mother and Maggie showed him the picture she always carries in her wallet. When he saw the picture, he had an odd expression on his face but Maggie didn’t see it because she was too busy eating. The dad wants to leave some money to Maggie but she needs to take a blood test first to determined if she really is his daughter. Maggie agrees but not because of the money, she just really wants to know if he really is her father.

The next day, she is on her way back from taking the test when there was a bank robbery a block away. Roger was chasing the robber when the robber shot up in the air and hit the marquee on one of the building. A little boy was standing right underneath the falling marquee when Maggie saw what was happening and ran to push the boy away. Fortunately, she got there in time and saved the boy but she didn’t get away in time and got electrocuted by the marquee. Roger tried to give her mouth-to-mouth to save her but couldn’t. Maggie’s spirit came out of her body and was shocked to see her lifeless body. She followed the body to the hospital. She tried to jump back into her body but couldn’t. She was wandering the halls of the hospital but nobody can see her. Just then, Jerry appeared and told her that she was died. Jerry brought her back to her ghost house and told her what she is supposed to do. Jerry is now Maggie’s guide in the afterlife. He will show her the tricks and try to make her adjustments from a human to a ghost as easy as possible.

Meanwhile, at Roger’s house…his brother is cooking in the kitchen. His grandma is there visiting. Roger came home with his girlfriend Yuen Choi Wan (who’s a nurse) all depressed because he couldn’t save Maggie. He goes up to his room to change. Nick stops by to have dinner. Roger and Nick are childhood friends and Nick rents a house from Roger’s family in the same building. Roger’s brother and girlfriend don’t really like Nick because he always borrows money from Roger and never pay him back.

Roger and Yuen Choi Wan are saving up for their marriage. Yuen Choi Wan reminds Roger to deposit his paycheck into their joint account the next day. At the hospital, there’s a doctor that likes Yuen Choi Wan but she doesn’t like him. Her mom, however, wants Yuen Choi Wan to dump Roger and go out with the doctor. Her mom doesn’t like Roger very much because she thinks he has no future as a bank manager. She believes that Yuen Choi Wan deserve to marry a doctor instead.

Back at Maggie’s house, Jerry stops by to tell her that she gets priority to be reborn because she died before her time was up and because she saved a little boy’s life. In order to cheer Maggie up, he sneaked her in the control room to see who her future parents were going to be. It turned out to be Monica and Nick! Maggie was shocked but happy at the same time because she gets to be with her family again. The only difficult part would be getting Monica and Nick to fall in love with each other. Jerry told Maggie to find Roger to help her. Apparently, Roger is the only one who can see her because he gave her some of his life’s breath when he was giving her mouth-to-mouth.

Maggie decides to seek out Roger for help. Every time Maggie tries to see Roger and ask for help, Roger gets all freaked out because he’s seeing a ghost. His family and girlfriend think he’s gone crazy. The doctor who has a crush on Yuen Choi Wan talked her into committed Roger to the psychiatric ward. One time Maggie accidentally went into Roger’s body and couldn’t get back out again! (This part is really funny!!!) Finally, Jerry had to come and get her. But she used up all her energy when she went into Roger’s body and had to recuperate. After she was rested, she wanted to go visit her family.

Maggie found out that the blood came back negative so that man couldn’t have been her real father. But he was still nice enough to give Maggie some money so they can move into a bigger house. Monica insisted that the extra bedroom is Maggie and moved Maggie’s stuff in there. Maggie was touched by Monica’s actions.

Monica decides to enter a beauty contest. Her father refused to let her but her mom wanted her to become rich and famous. The two ended up fighting and the dad had to sleep in the bathroom.

Nick borrowed some money from a loan shark and lost it all at the racetrack. Roger helped him out by lending him money from his savings account. When Yuen Choi Wan found out, she got really mad at him and yelled at him in front of his employees and customers. Nick asked Roger why he takes so much from Yuen Choi Wan.

Roger finally accepts Maggie’s presence and agreed to help her. They are becoming close. Maggie would come visit him each night in his room. Roger didn’t want her to sneak up on him each time so he hung a wind-charm on his balcony so he would know when she’s coming to see him. Yuen Choi Wan thinks there’s another woman in Roger’s live.

One of the ways Maggie helped Nick to become someone Monica would date was to help him win the lottery. Unfortunately, Monica accidentally set the winning ticket on fire. Monica and Nick went to the lottery office to try to claim the ticket anyways but they told them that it needs to investigate before the money can be given out.

During the beauty contest, Monica caught a rich man’s eye and the two starts dating (played by Joe Ma). It just so happened that Joe is an old schoolmate of Nick and he hired Nick to be Monica’s chauffeur. On one of their dates, Joe gave Monica a diamond necklace. Monica is now totally in love with him. Little did she know that necklace is fake and Joe is just trying to get her into bed with him. Roger, with the help of Maggie went to expose Joe for who he really is. When Monica found out the truth, she was hurt and angry at Joe for lying to her and using her. Monica now sees Roger in a different light. She is starting to have a crush on him.

Nick’s sister came back from France. She is a famous chef. It turns out that Jerry had a crush on her in his previous life and accidentally killed her. Because of this, he had to become a spirit guide while she got priority to be reborn as Nick’s sister. Jerry tried to get her to remember their past but she doesn’t remember anything from her previous life. Roger’s brother has a crush on her and since his own cooking show was in danger of being cancel, he asked her to be his on-screen partner. She agreed and saved the show by attracting viewers.

A girl that looks exactly like Maggie was driving around one day and saved Monica’s family from a car accident. She’s been all-alone in the world since her father died and her uncle cheated her out of her inheritance and kicked her out of her own house. The doctor was able to save her but she ended up in a coma. She didn’t want to go back into her body so Maggie and Jerry asked if Maggie could use her body while the girl is away. The girl agrees so Maggie borrows the girl’s body to help get Monica and Nick together.

Roger and Yuen Choi Wan are having difficulties in their relationship.

Maggie woke up from her coma and Monica’s family took her in. She is happy to be with her family again.

Roger and Maggie teamed up to help set Monica and Nick on a series of dates but it always goes wrong. Nick likes Maggie and Monica likes Roger now. Meanwhile Yuen Choi Wan broke up with Roger because she thinks Roger likes Maggie. Yuen Choi Wan gives him an ultimatum to either choose her or Maggie, Roger couldn’t choose because he had promised Maggie he would help her and he couldn’t desert her so Yuen Choi Wan broke up with him. Roger and Maggie are growing closer.

Monica and Nick eventually found out that Roger and Maggie was going out so they felt betrayed. Monica kicked Maggie out of her house and Nick told Roger they’re no longer friends. The girl that looks like Maggie decided to come and reclaimed her body so Maggie became a ghost again.

Roger’s brother and Nick’s sister are dating. Roger is in love with Maggie and wants to be with her. Roger’s grandma is suspecting that Roger is being haunting by a ghost so she called her teacher in Thailand to help her get rid of Maggie. After several unsuccessful attempts, the teacher came to Hong Kong to get rid of Maggie himself.

Roger finally told Monica the truth, that the girl was really Maggie. She has been watching over Monica and her family ever since she died. Now Roger needs her help to save Maggie from his grandma’s teacher. Roger decided to kill himself so he’ll be a ghost too to be with Maggie. Roger jumped off a building but was saved by Jerry.

Nick was able to reclaim his lottery money and brought the wonton noodle restaurant where they used to work at. Nick is starting to become more responsible. Unfortunately, the parent company gave the franchises some bad wonton, which made all the customers sick so there was no business. The restaurant was in danger of being bankrupt when they came up with the idea of having crab wontons. They started passing out flyers but still no one came. Maggie decided to help out by blowing the scent all over Hong Kong and soon people came to the restaurant to eat. Business picked up and the restaurant was saved.

Monica and Nick start to date.

Roger’s family and Monica’s family was walking to the parking garage after dinner when the teacher showed up and started hunting Maggie and Jerry who was with them. In order to save Maggie, Roger blocked the teacher’s but ended up in a coma. At the hospital, Jerry tells Maggie that in order for Roger to wake up, she needs to give him mouth-to-mouth so that his life’s breath can be returned. Maggie did but Roger couldn’t see her anymore. Roger wakes up and Jerry told him what happened. Roger and Monica beg the teacher not to kill Maggie’s spirit. The teacher finally agrees and told Roger that there is a way for Maggie to become human again. They need to turn back time and Roger has to be sent back to prevent Maggie from dying that day. The teacher and Jerry used their power to send Roger back to the time where the bank robbery was taking place. This time, Roger unplugged the marquee so Maggie wouldn’t be electrocuted.

Several years later, Monica is in labor at the hospital. Nick is pacing up and down the hall because he is the father. Roger and the rest of the gang are there. Then you see Jerry running down the hall towards Monica’s room. Roger sees him and Jerry stopped long enough to tell him that he’s being reborn. Roger smiles. Maggie arrived just as a baby’s cries can be heard. It’s a boy! They were all trying to figure out a name for him when Roger said the name should be Jerry. Maggie grabbed his arm and asked him why, Roger just smile and put his arms around Maggie but didn’t answer her.

The end
