This one stars a male lead that I haven't seen in TVB for a long time...Canti Lau Sek Ming. This is a modern series and it was actually pretty good. Lau Sek Ming plays the character, "Ling Zhen Yu". Eight years ago, he left his grilfriend, "Man Nu", and went to the US because he felt pressured by their relationship and wanted to get a better education. He goes back to Taiwan 8 years later with his current girlfriend, "Ling" and they are planning their wedding.

Ling's dad is a very rich man, and the CEO of a big company. Zhen Yu works for him and Man Nu's husband (She got married afer Zhen Yu left her) does also. Zhen Yu runs into Man Nu at the bridal shop because she works there part time. He's very surprised to see her. She doesn't make it hard for him and just tells his girlfriend that they were old friends.

As time goes on, Zhen Yu realizes that Man Nu has a very unhappy marriage and that her husband abuses her. He tries to help her because he feels guilty about the way he left her. Man Nu realizes that she still has feelings for him but she hides them. However, Man Nu's sister sets out to destroy Zhen Yu's wedding and she's successful and this causes many problems between Ling and Zhen Yu.

They finally do end up getting married but Ling had a one night stand with Man Nu's husband when they were both drunk. Man Nu knows this but doesn't tell Zhen Yu because she doesn't want to hurt him. He later finds out when his wife is pregnant with another man's baby. (Ling deliberately loses the baby b/c she only loves Zhen Yu). Zhen Yu, feeling hurt and frustrated, realizes that the only person he's truly loved all along was Man Nu. When he finds out that Man Nu's son is actually his son too, he feels an even bigger responsibility to help her. However, Man Nu's husband won't agree to a divorce and won't let her have her son.

Man Nu is forced to go back to her husband for her son's sake and Zhen Yu is devastated. Meanwhile, Man Nu's son is beginning to develop psychological problems because he sees his dad beating up his mom and he knows that Zhen Yu is his true biological father. When the doctor tells Man Nu her son is seriously ill, she escapes with her son and Zhen Yu helps them find a place to hide.

Man Nu's husband finally realizes that it was no use holding on to a woman who never loved him so he lets her go. Zhen Yu and Man Nu both get a divorce. Zhen Yu divorces Ling and Man Nu divorces her husband. At last, they are able to find true happiness. Man Nu and Zhen Yu's son recovers and they are happily planning their wedding. However, one day their son goes to visit his other father b/c its his birthday and Ling is there (she has gone crazy now and he's taking care of her out of guilt). Zhen Yu and Man Nu rush there to find their son. Just then, Ling grabs the boy and runs out of the house with him. Man Nu sees a car coming and pushes them out of the way and she gets run over by the car and dies. Before she dies, she tells Zhen Yu to forgive Ling.

A year later, Zhen Yu is visiting Ling at the mental hospital. He has forgiven her. He and his son go to visit Man Nu's grave.

This was a fairly good series but the ending was really sad...
