Donnie Yen (Iron Monkey; Once Upon a Time in China II) directs and stars as an amnesiac soldier drawn back to a simple rural village that he believes he has a link to. There, he meets his childhood sweetheart (Carmen Lee Yeuk-tung), but is soon pursued by killers who know his true identity. The fight sequences are impressive, but it's not enough to sustain this simple plot. Yen spends virtually the entire film in an impassive state, almost as if he believes that no performance is better than a bad one. In the end, it's ninety minutes of your life that you wish you could have back.
