Buffy the Vampire Slayer

This is an absolutely amazing television series. Currently this is being shown on BBC 2 on Wednesdays at 6.45pm, repeated (usually un-cut) on Fridays at 11.20pm and Sky One on Fridays at 8.00pm.

Buffy was created by a wonderful man called Joss Whedon. (all hail Mr Whedon, sir!)

Josh Whedon was born on the 23 June 1964. He is an old boy of Winchester public school.

Mr Whedon studied film at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, where he graduated in 1987 ''broke and without a job prospect ... I wanted to write for TV, so I wrote a sickening number of TV specs, most of which were returned to me.''

It took a year of sending his work around before he found success with a script that he wrote for Roseanne. A year later he sold a movie script and left.

quote

When one Slayer dies, the next is called and trained by the Watcher. A Watcher serves by finding the next Slayer, leading her on her path. It is the destiny of the Watcher to guide the Slayer.

As librarian Rupert Giles said, "This world is older than any of you know, and contrary to popular mythology, it did not begin as a paradise. For untold eons, Demons walked the earth; made it their home -- their Hell. In time they (the demons) lost their purchase on this reality, and the way was made for the mortal animals. For Man. What remains of the Old Ones are vestiges: certain magicks, certain creatures"

Buffy is a vampire slayer. Hence the title of the show!

Buffy ( to Cordelia ) : Well, that works out great. You won't tell anyone that I'm the Slayer, and I won't tell anyone you're a moron.
