Every director, movie producer, actor, whatever who is reading this review, listen, and listen good. Sex scenes do NOT impress me at all! They are totally unnecessary and usually detract from the main plot of the movie. Sex scenes do not make a movie worth seeing, in my opinion. Period. Get that straight, and if you don't, I will mention it again.

The opening of the movie is a bit humdrum, but it get's better when millionaire Thomas Crown (Pierce Brosnan) goes about stealing a 100 million dollar work of art. The way he did it was so clever, it's enough to make your head hurt! I was duly impressed. That's about all that was good about the beginning.

After that, it was nothing more that a big romance between Crown, and the insurance investigator Jeanette Baning (Rene Russo). Big woo. Why? Because this romance led no where in particular, and was a bit lame, because the police inspector on the case (Denis Leary) was making some pretty obvious passes at Miss. Baning. Eventually, he gave up and forgot about it. OK. Right. These romance stories give me a headache.

Basically, the only parts of the film that interested me was when Thomas Crown stole the painting (beginning) and returned it (end). Combined, about 30 minutes of the movie. I paid ten dollars for that (not to mention popcorn and drinks). I was not happy.

Conclusion: If you like seeing Peirce Brosnan acting like James Bond, go see it. If you like romance (hey, each to his/her own), why not? But be forewarned, there is nudity and a sex scene that could have otherwise been left out. Strange why the CHVI rating is only 14A for this one...
