MORE INFO TO COME NEXT TIME **************************************************************** From Patric1354@aol.com Knock, knock? Who's there? Melissa Melissa who? Melissa who's returning soon At present time, the rumors are flying of Melinda's imminent return to the X-Files. Exactly how remains under wraps of course. Here are some of the theories we have heard. The biggest one is that Melissa simply did not die. If you remember correctly, Melissa was taken to surgery, where she died. Neither Scully or her mother witnessed her death. The funeral was never shown. Due to the fact that not only was Melissa's father cremated, but her beliefs were such that she may have wished to be cremated. Someone may have taken her and switched the bodies. Melissa could be retained by the *shadow government* as part of a plot against Scully and Mulder. Maybe they found something in Dana that they wanted further study of. Some people believe that Melissa was taken by Krycek in an effort to right the wrongs he has done. Maybe his way of getting into Scully and Mulder's good graces would be to tell hem "I know where Melissa is." Another popular theory is that Melissa was really not the one shot. Many, many people believe that a clone of Melissa was killed. Or maybe a clone of Melissa will return. What are your theories? Do you believe her to be dead, even though we know that Melinda will be appearing on the X-Files again. Will the shows writers and producers really do another "visit from beyond the grave" storyline like in "The Blessing Way"? Send all comments to TwilCross@aol.com. These comments will be published in a further issue. ********************************************************************************** Every month, we have decided to include a few Melissa fanfic stories. Remembrances at Hillside Cemetery By DGraml6525@aol.com Seven months.....it has been over seven months since her daughter had died. Margaret Scully walked through the headstones, making her way to her eldest daughters resting place. Right next to her father...where she always should have been. Margaret bent down to Melissa's headstone. "Hi kitten...it's Mom. Just thought I would stop by and say 'Hi'". Margaret felt the tears well up in her eyes. How could this have happened? Melissa was her first daughter.....born only 2 years after Bill Jr. How could she have been the first one to die? Margaret knew that all four of her children should outlive her. So why did God keep trying to change that? ********************************************************************** Margaret remembered Melissa when she was a child. So beautiful, with ice-blue eyes and flaming red hair. She always insisted on being the little lady of the house. Very much unlike Dana and her brothers. Melissa was always Mom's girl. She followed her mother around, trying to emulate her every move. How many times did Bill and Margaret laugh at her when she put on Margaret's high heels and prance around the house. Melissa was probably the only child that Margaret knew who could walk perfectly in high heels by the age of 8. When Melissa had entered high school, that was when things began to change. She became combative....never agreeing on anything that her mother said. Margaret knew that Melissa missed her father.....the whole Scully clan did. But some of Melissa's ideas really took Margaret by storm. Bill had told her "She will grow out of it. Just be patient." But Bill wasn't the one who lived with Melissa everyday. Melissa always got long wonderfully with her brothers and sister. The boys laughed at her for her changing ideas. Dana just shook her head, but seemed content to let Melissa live her life as she believed. Bill received shore leave for Dana's fourteenth birthday. Melissa's sweet sixteen was in November. "Will you be here Daddy?" Melissa asked him eagerly wanting to have her father come home for her special occasion. "I'll be there Kitten... I promise. I wouldn't miss your sixteenth birthday for anything." Margaret hadn't known about the promise that Bill had made to Melissa over the phone. Melissa's birthday was fast approaching. Everyday, Melissa asked Maggie if she had heard from Bill, everyday Margaret had the same answer, "No, was I supposed to?" Margaret could see the worry in her daughter's eyes. Finally the big day had arrived. Melissa rushed home from school and burst through the kitchen door. Margaret spun around, shocked. "Where is he?" Melissa had asked, excited. "Happy birthday sweetheart. Where is who?" Margaret asked. "Daddy. I know you guys tried to surprise me, but I remember his promise." "Missy, your dad is off the coast of Norway right now. He isn't here." Melissa's face dropped. The tears welled up in her eyes. She ran to her bedroom and locked herself in. When Dana came home, she tried to get Melissa to let her in. "Come on Missy, it is my room too." But Melissa was adamant about being alone. The party guests came and went and Melissa still had not come down. Bill called later that night. "What the hell did you promise her Bill?" Margaret had demanded. "Well, I told her I would be home fro her birthday. I didn't think she would take me seriously." "Seriously? Bill, she had barricaded herself in her bedroom because you hurt her!" Margaret had slammed the phone down. Melissa finally let herself out of the bedroom the following morning. But to Maggie, it seemed a part of her was always locked in that room. She seemed more distant, not relying on her mother to do anything for her. When Margaret had called Bill to tell him that Melissa had been suspended from school yet again... he went ballistic. "Maggie, can't you keep control of those kids without me being there?" He had accused. "I'll be home as soon as I can to straighten it out." A part of Maggie hated Bill for being gone so much. Hated him or accusing her of not being able to raise their children properly. Their children? They were only their children when he was home, any other time Bill Jr. Melissa, Dana, and Charles were her responsibility alone. Seven weeks later Bill finally arranged a five day shore leave. Melissa was into even more trouble now, having been picked up by the police with a group of kids. All of them had been smoking marijuana. Maggie definitely felt as if she had lost control. Bill thought that Melissa would fall into line the minute he arrived home. Boy was he mistaken....she argued with her parents and brothers. Bill used every ounce of patience he had to try to reach her. He only had two days left home. He ordered a pizza, so the family could have a peaceful meal together. Pizza was the only thing the family could agree on as far as dinner went. It had always been like that. The pizza arrived and the family gathered around the table. Maggie opened the box and a worried look crossed her face. The two boys and Dana all shifted in their seats, staring at the floor. "What's wrong?" Bill asked. Before Maggie could answer, Melissa piped up. "The pizza had pepperoni, ham and sausage on it." "Yeah, I know....that has always been everyone's favorite." Melissa raised a defiant eyebrow to him. "I don't eat meat. I don't believe in killing innocent animals for food." "Melissa the last time I saw you, you ate four slices of pizza with the same things on it. Now just eat and worry about your 'innocent little animals' another day." Maggie had to interject, She knew that this conversation was about to blow the roof off of the house. "Melissa, there is a spinach salad in the fridge you can eat." Melissa glared at her father. "You really don't know anything about me do you? You don't know anything about any of us. Bill stared her down. No child of his was going to talk to him like he was a common sailor instead of someone who had been decorated by the Navy several times over. "Melissa, I know everything about you kids." Bill caught Dana staring at him. Dana had always been his little girl. She and him could speak without saying a word. This time however, she was telling him to back off. "Daddy, do you know that Dana wants to be a doctor? Do you know that Charles is he leading hitter on his baseball team? No, you don't know any of these things." Finally Melissa let go in one uncontrolled outburst. "You don't know anything about any of us because you are never here! You are always making promises that you never keep! I hate you for it!" Bill jumped up from the table and slapped her across the face. "What I do know young lady that you have been a pain in the ass since you hit puberty. It is going to end now!" Margaret froze. Neither she nor Bill had ever laid a hand on any of the children. She knew that Melissa was not going to tolerate it. "You're right Daddy. It is going to end now." Melissa turned and walked off to her room. Bill sat back down at the table, covering his face with his hands. The other three kids was looking at him in astonishment. He glared at them and bellowed "Eat your food." The boys automatically dug in. They seemed afraid that the same fate would bestow them if they didn't. Dana however, slid her chair back from the table and began walking towards the steps. "Starbuck, where are you going?" "I am going to talk to Melissa." "Dana, sit down and eat." Dana looked a their father and continued walking towards the steps. ************************************************************************ Margaret shifted herself into a sitting position by Melissa's headstone. She didn't know what Dana and Melissa talked about that night. But she remembered the fight that Bill and her had. A fight so bad that he ended up sleeping on the couch. And the next morning, when she went to wake the kids up from breakfast, was when she realized that Melissa was gone. She had packed some of her clothes in a back pack and left through her bedroom window. Dana had to have known. Her and Melissa shared a room. But Dana claimed she knew nothing, but didn't seem worried about her sister at all. The police searched for her for weeks. She had been spotted in several cities across the country, but never seemed to get caught. Bill finally had to go back on duty. The last report the police had received, had Melissa in Los Angeles. That was when the letters for Dana began to arrive. They were post marked from Los Angeles. Margaret had a suspicion they were from Melissa, but never asked. As long as the letters kept arriving, then she knew Melissa was okay. Maybe not okay, but alive. That was all she could hope for. Years went by and the Scully family never heard a word about Melissa. She was in her late twenties by now, so there was nothing the police could do anymore. Maggie was hoping Melissa would come to Dana's graduation from medical school, but nothing. No sign of her daughter. Just a strange package for Dana from the mystery person in LA. Dana knew that Maggie suspected the letters and packages were from Melissa. That only made Margaret more hopeful. Dana made sure that Margaret saw the letters and packages when they arrived. That was Dana's silent confirmation. Two days after her graduation, Dana broke the news to the family that she wanted to enter the FBI. Well, that started another round of fighting in the family. Dana was the only one left home. Bill Jr. had moved out and had a wife and children. Charles had entered the Navy himself and had a fiancee. The fight had been fast and furious....only to have the same result. Dana packed her bags and headed to Los Angeles. She would contact her parents from the FBI academy in Quantico when she arrived there. Until then, they had no idea where she was. Well, Bill had no idea. ************************************************************************ Margaret put her hand on her daughters headstone. You still took care of Dana didn't you. You and her always had a special bond." Margaret remembered back to the night bill had died. He was able to mutter a few words before he lost consciousness. The last thing he said......"Find her". Maggie never forgot that. After bill's funeral, she had checked the address where the letters to Dana had come from. Melissa used to live there but moved out two years ago. No forwarding address, though she did tell the new resident that she was moving back east. That was the last Margaret tried to find her. 'God will bring us back together' she thought. 'He will do it when the time is right.' Time passed and she thought of her little girl everyday. Then Dana disappeared, and Margaret felt her world begin to crumble. She could not handle losing two daughters and her husband. It was too much. Fox, he was the one who kept her hope alive. "God bless you for it Fox" she had told him once. But after three months of searching, Margaret had to have closure. She needed Dana to rest in peace. Then Dana mysteriously appeared in Georgetown Medical Center. Maggie remembered her and Fox talking to Doctor Daly about her living will. Maggie knew that she would soon have to make the decision to let Dana go, but she couldn't do it right away. She walked from the room only to hear Fox talking to someone. She rounded the curtain, and there she was! Her angel...her beautiful little baby. Melissa had said something to Fox, while holding a crystal over her sister. She had a little grin on her face, which disappeared the moment she saw Maggie. "Hi Mom" was all Melissa could say. Maggie, still in shock from seeing her mumbled. "I'm glad you could come Melissa." Fox looked at Melissa and asked : "You are Scully's sister?" Melissa just grinned. Margaret was amazed at how calm and serene she was. She was so beautiful. Even more beautiful than Margaret had imagined she would be. She was pretty when she ran away, but now she had matured into this beautiful woman standing in front of her. Maggie brought herself back. Melissa was saying something to Mulder. Melissa said one thing that Margaret definitely didn't want to hear. "She is deciding to stay or go." 'No!' Margaret's mind screamed. 'You just gave me one baby back, don't take another!' In the end, it had worked out. Dana recovered, Melissa and Margaret renewed their relationship. It was slow at first....but soon they were mother and daughter again. It was still hard for them to show each other emotion. That was Dana and Melissa's department. They had been in contact the whole time Melissa was gone. Melissa moved to Washington from LA, and they spent a lot of time together. Margaret was amazed that Missy had always been so close. She never really HAD left the family. ************************************************************************ Now Melissa was dead. Struck down by a bullet. Margaret had stayed at her bedside, but to no avail. Melissa went into surgery, only never to come out. Margaret had kept the funeral simple. She had not really known any of Melissa's friends. Dana did, and took the responsibility of contacting them. But the funeral had been botched from the beginning. Missy would have found it funny in a strange sort of way. The doctor who had started overseeing Missy's case had left for a vacation suddenly. A new doctor had taken over. When Melissa died, the new doctor told the staff that the family wanted her body cremated. Dana had been furious at the mistake, but Margaret was too tired and devastated to argue with the man. What was done was done, and Melissa was at peace. That was all that mattered to Maggie. ************************************************************************ Margaret got up from the ground. "I'll be back next week baby doll." She bent down and placed the bouquet of flowers in front of the headstone. "I love you". She bent down and kissed the headstone before walking towards her car. She never saw the man and woman lurking behind a tree about 50 feet away. ************************************************************************ "Isn't there any other way to do this?" The woman asked her companion. "If I knew any other way, I would tell you. Believe me. I have been honest with you this far. I told you everything. I wouldn't keep it from you intentionally." "I know. You have been honest with me. Told me everything that you did to me, Dana, F-, Mulder I mean. I have to accept the fact that this is protecting them as well as me." The man began to walk away. The woman continued staring at Margaret Scully's receding car. "One day, one day all will be well. I will come back to you again Mom. Just keep the faith." The man turned. "Melissa are you coming?" "Yes, Alex, I am. She took his outstretched hand and they began to walk together. "So, Agent Krycek, tell me again how faking my death is protecting me." They walked away. But Melissa knew that her and Alex would come back next week. He had nursed her back to health. He had told her everything he did. What he was forced to be involved with; Dana's kidnapping, Bill Mulder' death, her shooting. But Melissa saw it in his aura. He was sorry. And together, they would make the world right.
