Born in Waco, Texas on Febuary 21 1979 to Pat and Danny Hewitt
was this star we have all come to admire, Jennifer Love. This
talented toddler
was raised by her speech pathologist mother in the nearby town
of Killeen. Even in her early years Love has had aspirations for
performing. Her
mother once lost her 3 year-old while dining in a restaurant that
had live entertainment, and later found her little celebrity in
another room singing
"Baby Love" on top of a piano. As years went by, Love
persued her desires as a performer by dancing tap, jazz, and ballet.
By age 10, Hewitt had
toured internationally with a song and dance group called the
Texas Show Team, all the while dreaming of the day when she would
perform in
Hollywood. Her inspiration was her own "I could do that"
attitude while watching the superstars on T.V. and in the movies,
and her obstical was her
own caring, but cautious, mother who had to be convinced of Jeniffer's
successful future by a local talent scout before taking a plunge
and moving
to Los Angeles.
Just a few weeks after relocating to the Hollywood scene, Hewitt
got her first job as a regular on the Disney Channel's series
Kids Incorporated.
She soon found gigs doing commercials and ads, most notably for
L.A. Gear sneakers, which gave Love the opportunity to do trade
shows in Japan
and Paris as an L.A. Gear dancer and appear in a series of magazine
ads with basketball giant Michael Jordan. At the age of 12, she
landed a role as
one of the dancers in the Barbie workout video. A year later she
released her first CD, "Love Songs", which was sold
in Japan, but not in the U.S..
Several television projects followed, including the show "McKenna"
and "The Byrds of Paradise". On the flip side, Hewitt
was also proving herself
on the silver screen playing a minor part in the movie "Sister
Act 2" and a later role in "House Arrest". The
early and mid '90s also saw the
expression of Hewitt's musical side in the releases of her other
two CD's, "Let's Go Bang," and "Jennifer Love Hewitt".
Her breakthrough came as Bailey's girlfriend in the much applauded
"Party of Five". Originally Hewitt was meant to hold
a srictly minor role in
the show, but the fans took to the actress so much she soon became
a regular. In 1997 she took her breakout film role in the "Scream"-like
movie
I Know What You Did Last Summer along side Sarah Michelle Gellar
and Boy Meets World regular Will Friedle, all the while finding
time to
attend graduation ceremonies at Laurel Springs High, which she
had been attending via correspondence courses since 1993.
Hewitt lives in a Burbank apartment with her mother, her cats,
and her collection of teddy bears and porcelain angels. The year
1998 witnessed
the performance of Hewitt in the grad-night romance Can't Hardly
Wait and the sequel thriller I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.
Recently
she sold her first movie pitch about a wedding planner who falls
for her groom-to-be client. New Cinema, which plans to develop
"Cupid's Love"
with the actress, bought it for a cool $500,000.
With the intelligence, beauty, and that irresistable smile,
Hewitt holds a spot as one of Young Hollywoods hottest actresses.
After proving to the
world her ability to shine by focusing on a winning combination
of sensitivity, good looks, and '90s sensibility, the audience
will definitely be
willing to witness whatever she'll do next.
