What? Can this be right? Ash and the gang have finally reached what is called Pewter City! The city of hard rock and defense...... Ash is going to go battle the gym leader of Pewter City, Brock, but before he enters the city, a weird man stands in his way, telling him about Pokémon, Brock, and offering to help him around, but Misty thinks he's some what or other fishy. Ash goes into the gym to battle Brock, with Pikachu at his side... Brock sends out his Onyx, and Ash is toast. Ash brings his Pikachu to toughen it up with the man's help he met eariler in the day. Pikachu is powered up and ready to go for the next battle, Misty muttering by his side. The homeless man.... says that Brock lives with his siblings, and he is the oldest, which means he has to take care of the whole household... with such a busy life by his side, Ash goes and battles Brock again. The very first battle with Geodude, Pikahcu wins... but then when Brock sends out his Onyx, Pikachu squeals with horror...!!! Pikachu's thunderbolt is absoultely out of control, causing fire to hit, and the water sprays are affected, causing Onyx to get weak... (water is strong against rock) until Brock's siblings come in, begging for this to stop...

Later that day, Ash heads home, kinda happy that he won, but with no reward. But who comes running up to him? Brock with a boulderbadge for him to keep. Ash twinkles with delight, staring at the shiny boulder badge he owns. The first step to the Pokémon League.
