MOB HITS

The Murder of William "Action" Jackson.
One of the most famous Mob murders in Chicago was the murder of William "Action" Jackson in 1961. Jackson, a juice collector working for Willie "Potatoes" Daddano, had been a little loose lipped in a bar where one of the barmen was an informant for the FBI. The FBI acted on the tip from the barman and the information was used in such a way that the Mob thought Jackson had ratted to the law. I don't believe the FBI at the time knew that using the tip off would result in Jackson's death, but it did. "Action" Jackson was kidnapped and taken to a meat rendering plant on the south side. There, his three hundred pound body was hung, through his rectum, on a meat hook. He was then tied in place and left to hang in excruciating pain with three hundred pounds of body pushing down on the hook firmly embedded in his butt. His knees were smashed with a hammer and a cattle prod was used on his genitals. Jackson was also stabbed with an ice pick.

The body of William "Action" Jackson is found in the trunk of his Cadillac on Lower Wacker.
