As irrepressible Beverly Hills teen, Cher,
Rachel Blanchard brings her angelic looks
and a superior yet caring attitude to the main
character who's anything but CLUELESS.
| While Cher may seem every bit the flighty, glamorous socialite, she actually dispenses cautionary words of advice to all her friends, takes her wardrobe seriously for all the right reasons, looks after her hard-driving lawyer dad, and is a serious student (though her educational views may be somewhat skewed). A relative newcomer to Hollywood, Blanchard landed the coveted role of Cher after being hand- picked from hundreds of auditioning women. A Toronto native, Blanchard's career was launched with a part in a McDonald's commercial. She is best known for her role in the hit Nickelodeon supernatural anthology series, "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" Blanchard was also a series regular in the syndicated "War of the Worlds," and the British series, "Chriss Cross." Her other television credits include the telefilm, "Alex: The Life of a Child," and such Canadian productions as "The Campbells," "Katts and Dog," "Glory Enough For All," "Two For Joy" and "On My Own." In features, Blanchard starred in "Iron Eagle IV," with Louis Gossett, Jr., and the Canadian film, "Young Ivanhoe." A decided contrast to Cher, Blanchard eschews the latest fashions and shopping for sports and hiking. She resides in Toronto when not filming in Los Angeles. Interview from ABC Television |
