The Close Campsfield! July camp needs your help! Below is a list of useful things you might have access to - bring what you can to help create an effective and inspiring protest camp.

This list is by no means exhaustive, so email [email protected] with ideas and contributions (especially regarding help with transport and donations).

  • Food - a kitchen will be running so donations of food, time and skills will be needed. Fresh vegetables, fruit, pasta, rice, spices, herbs
  • Water, water butts, big bottles. Water will be available but in short supply - bring as much as you can - hosepipes, buckets, funnels, spare bottles
  • Tents - big tents, small tents, marquees, yurts, teepees, tent pegs, poles
  • Sleeping bags, blankets, carpet, towels
  • Entertainment - musicial instruments like drums, bongos, flutes, trumpets, more drums, whistles, horns, even more drums
  • Circus equipment, hoops, facepaint, carnival masks, big shoes, false noses, silly wigs, balloons, inflatables
  • Clowns, singers, dancers, stilt performers, side-shows, musicians, entertainers, comedians, womble-tamers!
  • Carnival face masks, overalls, goggles, inflatables, cushions, bubble-wrap, gloves
  • Wood - planks, beams, poles, sheets of plywood, pallets, firewood
  • Waterproofing = plastic sheeting, plexiglass, polypropylene, tarpaulins, groundsheets and blankets
  • Tools - spades, shovels, forks, hammers, crowbars, screwdrivers, sledgehammers, wrenches, rachet sets, bolt-croppers, wire-cutters, angle-grinders, generators, nails, screws
  • Ladders, rope, string, pulleys, bungees
  • Bales of hay, crates, cardboard boxes, gaffer tape, packaging tape, electrical tape
  • Toilet paper / kitchen roll / note paper
  • Rubbish bags - lots of these!
  • Lighting - torches, candles, ribbon lighting, wander lights, fairy lights, decorations
  • Power - generators, solar panels, peddle-power, batteries, car batteries, wire
  • Paint - tinned paint, spray paint, illuminous paint, banner-making material, sheets, brushes

Getting there

Oxford is well-served by train and coach connections interchanging at the rail station. Coaches to Oxford leave London Victoria coach station every 15 minutes, costing about £8. Nearest tube: Victoria, then 5 mins walk to coach station.

Campsfield House is about 6 miles from Oxford city centre. It can be reached by bus (numbers 2B, 2C or 2D) from the main Oxford rail station: ask for Campsfield House or Langford Lane. This bus can also be caught outside Debenhams in the city centre. When you get there follow the banners.

By road: from London - M40 motorway from London, taking exit 9 onto A34 towards Kidlington. Join A44 northbound towards Woodstock. Turn right for Oxford Airport and right again for Campsfield House.
From Oxford - leave the ring road for the A44. Turn right for Oxford Airport and right again for Campsfield.
