PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

Extensive experience in starting up new businesses. Have led in developing IBM's businesses in the following areas:

  1. Network Station Management. Developed market plan, business plan and internal processes to support great growth in the business. Within 9 months of tenure, won more than US$47M worth of contracts.
  2. Electronic Commerce. Developed business case, internal processes to support new business. Won major government bid to implement electronic procurement services.
  3. Infrastructure. Led as intrapreneur to successfully develop the business for IBM Singapore. Grew the business from S$1M in 1989 to S$6M in 1994.

Extensive experience designing computer complexes and utilization of technology in business forefront to achieve automation and efficiency goals. Wide range of experiences in designing LAN and WAN infrastructure. Led IBM team as IT Infrastructure construction consultant and business manager of numerous computer support equipment. Currently appointed as Business Development Manager for the Singapore Electronic Procurement Project, the largest network application services project embarked on by IBM.

Responsible for development of new service offerings. Successfully launched Site Management Services, Systems Amendment Services, Infrastructure consulting Services, System View SiteManager Services, and the IBM Advanced Connectivity System.

Charter member of the IBM Advanced Connectivity System World Council. Senior Advisor to the IBM ASEAN Advanced Connectivity System team.

Currently, as business owner for EPS, is responsible for establishing the business processes, developing the market, crafting the contracts, making the deals, and exploiting the channels to deliver the offering successfully.

Awards and Recognition:

IBM Hundred Percent Club for 1989, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1998

Consistently overachieved on sales targets: 1993: 180% overachievement, 1994: 170% overachievement. 1998: Grew the NWS ASEAN business revenue by 265% over 9 months of taking over the business.

IBM Worldwide Team Award 1997. For significant contribution to win and deliver Electronic Procurement Services for the Singapore Government.

Significant Projects handled:

Network Station Management

Took over the Network Outsourcing business for ASEAN in March 1998. Over the next 9 months, led the regional team to grow the business from US$4.7M p.a. to US$12.5M p.a. Led team to win US$47M worth of contracts during tenure as Business and Offering Manager.

Built, maintained and own the Market and Business Plan for NWS. Responsible for P&L for the entire ASEAN business. Responsible for building the team and infrastructure to support the explosion of business growth.

Opened significant marketplace in the Singapore Government and Industries. Led team to win 6,000 seats in the NCB EASE projects. Won the Haliburton Asia global project. Won the Singapore Airlines desktop outsourcing deal (5,000 seats) against incumbent. Won General Motors against very stiff competition. Won Exxon in Thailand against the face of severe economic crisis.

1999: Current focus is to open the Philippines marketplace and tasked to achieve a year to year growth of 4500%. Currently leading the Filipino team to engage and win several multi million dollar deals. Leading in establishing the business culture in the Philippines, and building the infrastructure to be able to support large customers with high service levels.

Electronic Procurement Service

Started the IBM Electronic Procurement Business. An ERP service offering, this was offered and awarded by the Singapore Government to IBM. Built the business model, and led in Sales effort to close more than 8 large Government Ministries as buyers and close to 300 suppliers in an EDI supply chain service.

Presented paper entitled "Electronic Procurement - A Primer for Procurement Agencies" at the 8th International Conference on Public Procurement organised by the International Public Procurement Association. This paper was presented and distributed to all delegates of the conference. A total of 80 countries participated in the event held from May 20 to 22, 1997 in Kuala Lumpur.

Presented "Electronic Procurement - The Singapore Government Experience" in the IBM Japan Fair. The presentation was very well received amongst the 80,000 attendees of the fair, which was held in Makuhari Messe, Tokyo from June 11 to 13, 1997.

Led team to successfully negotiate the very complex Electronic Procurement Service contract, bringing together IBM legal officers and the Singapore Government Attorney General's Chambers to agreement on the terms and conditions.

Led team to draw out process, and run the administration services required for the Electronic Procurement Services to run as required under contract. This included the billing system and contract administration. Currently owns this process and responsible for improvements and enhancements.

Organised, presented and led a team which ran 8 seminars, to a collective audience of more than 2000 people, on Electronic Procurement Service. Also led a team of telemarketers to followup after the seminars, to close more than 120 accounts within 3 months.

NCB Data Center. Appointed as Principal Consultant leading a group of IT and building trade consultants and clients to consolidate 16 major building trade disciplines through design, tendering and construction of a state of the art data center facility comprising of 36,000 square feet of computer machine rooms, and 18,000 square feet of office area. Includes utilization of state of the art technology in automation, cooling, emergency and normal power supply, security, access and control, training facilities, workflow efficient space utilization, hazard control, and interior design. Total contract value exceeding S$10,000,000.

Deutsche Bank Asia Pacific. Appointed as IT Principal Consultant leading a group of IT and building trade consultants to construct and move the Asia Pacific Computer Center into a new installation comprising of 4,000 square feet of computer machine rooms, and 3,000 square feet of interior office space. Scope includes architectural, interior design, mechanical and electrical design, automation, and turnkey construction of the new site.

Swiss Bank Corporation, Singapore. Appointed as IT Principal Consultant leading a group of IT and building trade consultants to construct and move the Singapore Branch office into a new installation comprising of 10,000 square feet of Technology space. Scope includes mechanical and electrical design, automation design, telecommunications systems design and coordination of the relocation activities.

Nord Deutsche Landesbank Girozentrale. Appointed as Principal Technology Consultant to set up a new branch office for the Bank at DBS Tower2. Services rendered includes the design and implementation of the LAN, the WAN, and the Dealing System network, design and construction of a Computer/Network Center, design and procurement of dealing room systems, information systems feeds (Reuters, Telerate, Bloomberg), telexes, facsimile machines, LAN and WAN, token ring cabling for 85 workstations.

Westin Stamford Westin Plaza. Was member of the team who successfully marketed and installed a significant $10,000,000 contract for Systems Integration to fully automate the front office and back office of the hotel. Was directly involved in the implementation of the 1,000 node IBM Cabling System (Type 1) network.

Caltex House. Appointed as IT Infrastructure Consultant and led in the design, tendering and implementation of telecommunication and datacommunications systems involving 1100 data/voice points in a structured cabling system and a computer room. Design utilizes Category 5 UTP cables, fibre optic backbone and multi-hub, multi-patching system.

Bayerische Vereinsbank. Appointed as Principal Technology Consultant to set up a new branch office for the Bank at Finlayson Green. Services rendered includes the design and implementation of the LAN, the WAN, and the Dealing System network, design and construction of a Computer/Network Center, LAN and WAN, token ring cabling for 85 workstations.

AMP Plant 3. Appointed as IT Infrastructure Consultant and led in the design, tendering and implementation of 900 data/voice points in a structured cabling system. Design utilizes IBM Type 2 cables, fibre optic backbone and multi-hub, multi-patching system. The system also takes advantage of the reconfiguration flexibility of the AMP Communication Outlets. Consulted with client at all stages of design through implementation.

Singapore Turf Club. Led in the design and construction of the Singapore Turf Club Data Center and Premise Cabling plant. Constructed 4500 square feet of machine rooms & 2000 square feet of office area. Supplied and installed Genset, UPS, electrical distribution system, systems furniture and custom built furniture, raised flooring, air conditioning, builder's work, fibre optic cabling system and IBM Type 1 cabling system. Also led in the implementation of the mobile betting system, and the telecommunications.

Central Provident Fund Board. Led marketing team to formulate, strategise and plan for major relocation project. The relocation involves using a Recovery Center for contingency, migration of a significant and high availability network, and coordination of mullet-vendor equipment movement. Available to perform team as technical advisor and consultant throughout entire project to successful completion.

Data Center construction: SNS Data Center, NUH Data Center, SSDS Data Center, Singapore Telecom Geylang Exchange Data Center, Bukit Turf Club, Bank of America, KredietBank N.V., Keppel Bank, Singapore Petroleum Company.

Premise Cabling: Fuji Photo Singapore, Bayerishce Vereinsbank AG, Sony Singapore, The American Club, Singapore Telecom Telecenter, Bucket Turf Club, Westin Stamford Westin Plaza Hotel, KredietBank N.V., Singapore Petroleum Company, Elections Department.
