John F. Kennedy/Abraham Lincoln coincidences To the best of my knowledge and research, the following facts are known to be absolutely true. Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846. John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946. Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860. John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960. The names Lincoln and Kennedy each contain seven letters. Both presidents were particularly concerned with civil rights. Both presidents' wives' lost children both while living in the White House, and after living in the White House. Both were succeeded by Southerners. Both successors were named Johnson. Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808. Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908. Abraham Lincoln died in 1865. Andrew Johnson died in 1875. John F. Kennedy died in 1963; Lyndon Johnson died in 1973. Both Johnsons faced the next election against men whose names began with "G" (Grant and Goldwater.) Both successors left the presidency in disgrace without running for reelection. Both presidents were shot on a Friday. Both presidents were shot in the head, from behind. Both presidents were shot in the presence of their wife. Both presidents were assassinated by Southerners. Both presidents served in the U.S. Senate. John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1838 (not 1839, but close enough). Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939. Both assassins were known by their three names, both names contain fifteen letters. Booth and Oswald were both southerners favoring unpopular ideas. Booth ran from the theater and was caught in a warehouse. Oswald ran from a warehouse and was caught in a theater. Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials. Lincoln was shot in the Ford theatre and Kennedy was shot in a Ford Lincoln. Both were married in their thirties to women in their twenties. Kennedy and Lincoln were both shot by men in their twenties. In 1860, Lincoln was elected president with less than 50 percent of the vote over Steven A. Douglas, born in 1813. In 1960, Kennedy was elected president with less than 50 percent of the vote over Richard M. Nixon, born in 1913. Lincoln was younger than his vice president, Andrew Johnson. Kennedy was younger than his vice president, Lyndon Johnson. Lincoln was the first president to be assassinated in office, while Kennedy was the last. Lincoln and Kennedy were carried in death on the same caisson. ----------------- The following might be true, but are to be verified... Kennedy's secretary warned him not to go to Dallas and Lincoln's secretary warned him not to go to the theater. (Some have contended that Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy, this is not true. But Kennedy did in fact have a secretary named Lincoln) Mrs. Kennedy advised Lincoln not to go to the theatre and Mrs. Lincoln advised Kennedy not to go to Dallas. A week before Lincoln was shot he was in Monroe, Maryland. A week before Kennedy was shot he was with Marilyn Monroe. (probably not true)
