  Becky's Lifetime Goal
Conquer Half Dome

On September 11, 1999, five of us, Becky, Mark, Jeff, Julia, and Randy started the one day hike from Glacier Point to Half Dome and back. This trek would take us 13 hours to complete the 22 miles of elevation changes that varied from 7,200 ft. at Glacier Point to 5816 ft. at Illilouette Falls, past 5907 ft. at Nevada Falls and up to the top of Half Dome which is 8842 ft. and 4,733 feet above the valley floor.

"Rest Stop"We started from Glacier Point on Saturday morning at 6:20 a.m. This was the first break taken after passing Illilouette Falls. Three miles under our belt and 18 more to go, before this day is ended.

"Second Rest Stop"The closer we got to Half Dome, the more breaks I wanted to take. This was on the last 2 mile stretch. After 9 miles, I was really starting to feel the elevation.

"Gee, we are almost there!" This is the last break on the way from Little Yosemite Valley trail."We're almost there!"

"OH, MY GOD"
That is about all you can say at this point.  Our first close up view of the cables and switchbacks.
"Oh My God!"

"We have to go up there?"

"You got to be kidding" That is a long way up!

This is steep!"This is really steep" "To the Top"
