Introduction
For more than 4,000 years, women have gone to Isis to share their joys and sorrows, to give thanks and receive
the blessings and tender love of the Goddess. So let us join together to journey to the Temple of the Goddess Isis,
there to seek guidance and blessing for our lives, and the lives of those we love.
So, take a moment to stretch, settle in, and get comfortable
Take a deep breath, and let it out...
And again, in and out...
With each breath, feeling the concerns of the day float away
As you become more centered in this moment
Aware of your body, here and now...
Grounding, Earth Energy
And taking a moment to send down a grounding cord, deep into center of the earth
Making that connection with the planet... (pause)
And opening your feet, begin to draw up the earth energy
Let it fill your feet, soothing and relaxing...
Drawing it up into your legs, all the way up to the first chakra at the base of your spine
Sending some of it down your grounding cord...
Creating a U-shaped earth anchor, connecting you firmly to the planet
Letting the rest of the energy flow up through your torso,
Up to your heart, where some of it divides and flows down your arms and out your hands
And the rest continues to flow up through your neck and head
Soothing, relaxing, flowing on up, all the way up through the top of your head and out
Cascading down around you, surrounding you with a fountain of earth energy.
Celestial Energy
And now, bring your attention to the golden sun above your head,
Draw down twin streams of golden light, one on either side of your spine
All the way down to the first chakra at the base of your spine
Where it turns and flows easily up the front of your torso,
Enlightening every chakra, clearing each chakra with the
Combined energy of earth and sky.
Now send some of the celestial energy down your grounding cord
Reinforcing that connection with the earth.
Then bring your attention back to the heart,
And let some of the celestial energy flow down your arms and out your hands
While the rest continues up through your neck and head and out the top of your head
Cascading down around you
Surrounding you with a fountain of combined earth and celestial energy.
Be bathed in this sweet energy, know that you are at a point of perfect balance
Harmoniously balanced between earth and sky, at home here
With all the resources of earth and sky available to you now.
Light Body
Now begin to focus your attention at your brow, between your eyes
And let your awareness begin to rise into your Body of Light, just above your head
And from that perspective, send love and thanks and a blessing of radiant light
Down to your material body
Then return your attention to your Body of Light, as you begin to rise.
As you rise up and up through the earth’s atmosphere,
Glance down, and send a special blessing to this planet, the Earth our Mother.
Then turning your attention ahead, as you move upward through stellar space,
Past stars, sun, and moon, then through the luminous darkness of interstellar space,
Up and up, until ahead of you there is a bank of misty clouds
And in those clouds, a doorway through which you pass easily.
The Inner Nile
And as the mist clears, you find yourself above the Inner Nile
Landing gently on a large island in the center of the mighty river.
From this distance, you can see the outline of many temples
And the green lushness of gardens and trees.
You find yourself on a pathway flanked with stone statues
And pillars adorned with the sacred lotus.
It is early morning, and the temple complex is quiet.
A priestess awaits your arrival, clad in a simple white robe.
She greets you warmly and tells you that you are expected.
Your aspiration to serve has led you here.
Following your guide up the path,
You come to the lotus pool
Where you sit for a moment and bathe your feet in the cool waters
Noticing the lotus flowers floating in the water: pink, white, and blue...
You dip your fingers in the pool and sprinkle cool water on your face
You notice faint music, the sound of the flute, and voices singing in the distance...
The sweet scent of incense, and the perfume of flowers...
The Temple of Bast
"Now you are ready to enter the Temple of Bast," your guide says
Pointing the way up some shallow steps into a side chapel.
You pass through tall columns and into a small room,
Cool in the shade, where Bast awaits you.
You greet Bast with reverence, and for ask Her blessing.
She sends you a rose, carried by one of Her cat emissaries
Perhaps one of the large jungle cats, perhaps a sleek domesticated cat
This cat bring you a beautiful rose.
Put out your hands to receive the rose.
Notice its color, its size, the degree of openness, the leaves.
This rose represents something about you that you deeply appreciate.
Take a moment to understand what aspect of yourself this rose represents. (Pause)
Thank Bast for this gift of self-love, self-appreciation, pure self-delight--
The essential starting point for all healing, all projects, all contributions.
The Temple of Isis
And now your guide leads you to the Temple of Isis
As you near the temple now
Notice the shallow steps that rise to the temple entrance
Stepping up, aware that each step brings you closer to the Goddess inside
Feeling Her vibration
Feeling Her vibration growing stronger with each step.
Stepping now into the coolness of the entrance
The refreshing coolness, nurturing after the heat of the sun.
Passing through the outer courtyard
So beautiful.
Approaching the Goddess Isis in the center of the temple
She stands facing you
Her winged arms outstretched, radiant in love
That healing love emanates from Her body
Filling the temple, and filling you.
Feel Her welcome
Her welcoming love
Feel Her energy flowing throughout your whole being
You intone Her name three times
Aligning your self with Her Self, your heart with Her great heart:
"Isis, Isis, Isis"
Feel Her asking you to speak about what it is you are seeking.
You tell Her what you want. (Short pause)
At Rest in the Goddess
And She tells you to come forward and receive in Her embrace
And as you step forward, She gently enfolds you in Her winged arms
And draws you to Her heart
And nestles you in Her love and healing power.
Rest now in Her love, absorbing as much energy as you need.
(Long pause - 5 min.)
Let the wisdom of Her energy unfold in you
And now, as She opens Her arms,
Stretching them out to Her side once again
You, standing before her
Outstretch your arms in love and thanks to Her.
Fully in touch with your true purpose
Realigned to the journey of your own soul
Radiant as She is.
You fold your arms so your hands meet at your heart
Affirming to yourself that the power of Her healing love will continue to flow through you.
Both in this moment and in the moments of daily life to come.
Knowing that you are never alone, for Isis is beside you, watching over you.
Time to Go
Now it is time to go.
With love in your heart, you bid Isis farewell for now.
You bid farewell, also, to the priestess
And take a last look at the temple complex.
Your priestess guide points the way down the path, which leads into the mist...
And the mist becomes a cloud,
And you pass through the gate in the cloud, and begin to gently make your way back
Past the sun, moon, stars, and planets, seeing the earth ahead....
Seeing the Western Hemisphere, the U.S., the West Coast....
The skyline of San Francisco, then further south down the Peninsula...
Back to this circle of friends,
Back to your body, which has been peacefully awaiting your return...
And when you are ready, bend over and touch the ground
Breath deeply, and stretch, and return.
Note About Leading This Meditation
We've found that women travel quite deeply using this meditation. It can be difficult to talk about the experience,
but very valuable. I encourage women to share whatever part of their experience they feel willing to, whether it's
the color and shape of the rose received from Bast, simply a feeling that they got from the time with Isis, whatever
small part they're comfortable sharing. I mention that when we meditate together, it's like taking a trip together,
and often something one woman sees helps someone else make sense of their experience. Going around the circle,
each woman usually has at least one part of her experience to share.
