Carnforth "Number 1" Signalbox (formerly Carnforth "Junction" signalbox) The Carnforth Number 1 signalbox, was built to the south of the station, and to the east of the up main line. The signalbox was built by the LNWR ( a LNWR "C" type) and was 615 yards to the south of the c1880 Carnforth Number 2 signal box. The signalbox, when opened in June 1884 probably had 64 levers. Carnforth Number 1 signalbox was replaced on 17 th September 1938. The new signalbox was a LMS type "E" signalbox, and was 201' 6" to the south of the original signalbox, but was still to the east of the up main line The new Carnforth Number 1 was 596 yards south of the (new) Carnforth Number 2 signalbox, and 2 miles 1133 yards to the north of Hest Bank signalbox.
