Carnforth "No. 2" Signal Box (formerly Carnforth "Station" signalbox)
The Carnforth Number 2 signalbox was a LNWR "C" type box, and was built for the 1880 rebuild of the station, replacing the earlier Carnforth "Station" signalbox. The c1880 Carnforth Number 2 signalbox was located to the south of
Carnforth station platforms, between the Lancaster and Carlisle mainline north, and the
Furness line. 6 th November 1938, Carnforth Number 2 signalbox was replaced by an LMS "E" size signalbox, located 262' 6" to the south of the original signalbox, and to the east of the up main line. The new signalbox had 85 levers. The new Carnforth Number 2 signalbox was 596 yards to the north of Carnforth Number 1 signalbox, 4 miles 1620 yards to the south of the Burton and Holme signalbox, and 491 yards from Station Junction signalbox, on the Furness line.
