Mission 3: The Dragon's EyeThe Dragon's Eye ruby, the largest gem of its kind, has a rich history surrounded in legend. According to stories from its native China, the ruby was once part of a large, supposedly mystical statue called the Golden Dragon; during the Ming dynasty, the Golden Dragon was used to dispel foreign attackers by "shooting beams of power" from its eyes. The Golden Dragon itself was reported as lost over a century ago. While some disregard this as hearsay, others believe that the gem actually holds some magical properties or may have been used as part of a crude laser or light-reflecting weapon. Regardless, the gem's size and history alone makes it priceless.
After years of being locked away, the Chinese government recently unveiled the gem for a limited time for display in a Hong Kong museum. The head director for the country's Science and Antiquities task force---an expert on the Golden Dragon's history---is personally overseeing the project. The gem will be guarded by an around-the-clock military security team and be encased in a specially-created clear plastic two times thicker than conventional steel; an invisible laser-web system will also be employed. Classified documents about the gem's history and scientific properties are stored within a vault in the museum's basement.
Your mission: assemble a group of Cobra agents to steal the Dragon's Eye, as well as learn as much about the gem as possible. Rumor has it that the G.I. Joe team is expecting Cobra action and may even have an undercover agent within the museum. A Cobra sub will be waiting for the gem and recovery team 10 miles off the coast.
