Spoofing
A technique used to gain unauthorized access to computers, whereby the intruder sends messages to a computer with an IP address indicating that the message is coming from a trusted host. To engage in IP spoofing, a hacker must first use a variety of techniques to find an IP address of a trusted host and then modify the packet headers so that it appears that the packets are coming from that host.Worm and System Restore
Symptom: Your antivirus software alerts you that it has detected and deleted a virus. It suggests that you let the antivirus software scan your hard drive. After a half hour or more of scanning you are informed that your hard drive is not infected. The next time you turn your computer on, after a while, the antivirus software alert is repeated. This keeps happening with repeated restarts of your computer.
The problem is that a worm has gotten into System Restore. Each time your computer is started or restarted, the worm in System Restore is restoring the virus.
To remove the worm
To open System Properties:
click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.
In the System Properties dialog box, click the System Restore tab.
or
Right click the My Computer icon on the Desktop and click on Properties.
Click on the System Restore tab.
Put a check mark next to "Turn off System Restore".
Click the OK button.
Have your antivirus software scan your hard drive.
Restart your computer.
Have your antivirus software scan your hard drive again.
Turn on System Restore
Open System Properties.
Remove the check mark next to "Turn off System Restore".
Ensure that the Turn off System Restore check box is cleared before you click the OK button.
