After three years of success with Big Eyes Small Mouth, Guardians of Order released a second edition with expanded rules and powers for the game. Written by David L. Pulver and Mark C. Mckinnon, the second edition of BESM reflected certain chages and clarifications to the Tri Stat rules system over the past three years. It featured higher quality paper and color art and it's length was increased from 98 pages to 279. A large change, but once opened, the book revealed little had been changed about the system. The system, despite being expanded npow with more options kept the same basic game mechanics ensuring ease of play and learning, while expanding on certain idea and concepts that the original BESM game had no went into great depth on.
This was done in response to fan requests and suggestions that certain rules be explained in more detail. The game also adopted many of the optional rules that had went over well in the expansions "Big Robots Cool Starships" and "Hot Rods and Gun Bunnies", making these once optional rules offically part of the system. The concept of all attributes being limited to five was raised to six to reflect the use of this rule in most licensed products.
Overall, the rules were not chaged so much as they were explained better made a bit more "inline" with other rules to create a more predictable game system rather than the extremely fast and loose rules of the first edition. From experince, this seems to only add enjoyment to the game in most cases and the rules are still easily adaptible to suit a particular GM's style.
