DRACULA AD. 1972

London today. A group of young people are attending a party in Chelsea enlivened only by the Stoneground group. Jessica Van Helsing, who lives with her grandfather, Professor Van Helsing, is there with a number of friends. Among them: Bob, Joe, Gaynor, Greg, Laura, Anna and Johnny Alucard, a direct descendant of Dracula’s disciple Johnny’s suggestion that they liven things up by “keeping a date with the Devil” Jessica is eventually trapped when Bob, now a vampire, lures her to a rendezvous where Johnny is waiting to take her to the Master.

Van Helsing goes to her rescue, first tracking down Johnny to his flat where a violent fight between the two results in the young Alucard’s death when he falls backward into the bath, a Vampire killed by water. On his way to St. Bartolph’s Church, where Jessica is trapped by Dracula, Van Helsing finds the dead body of Bob spread-eagled on a tomb. A newly-initiated vampire, he had been unable to return to a grave before the sun rose.

Van Helsing rescues Jessica from the grips of Dracula, and the foes engage in a desperate fight to destroy each other. Van Helsing stabs Dracula with a silver dagger, but unfortunately, the object is removed by Jessica under the influence of the Count, and the battle continues. Cleverly, Van Helsing lures the Vampire out of the church into a trap that he constructed during the daylight hours prior to entering the church. Dracula is impaled by several wooden stakes in a ditch. Triumphant in this last battle between the forces of good and evil, he covers the ground over the decaying, shriveled remains, putting to rest the corrupt powers of Dracula.
