Net Access and the Value of Information:

In the late 80's and early 90's it was hard for many to gain access to the Internet.  This didn't stop some people from mind gaming an audience who could only gain access to hobbyist nets.  You were made to feel inferior if you didn't have access to the Internet, even though Fido and the other hobbyist nets were going strong and had thousands of nodes worldwide.  As the moderator of the Fido TVRO Echo I had to fight a battle against those that were being brainwashed into thinking that the net they couldn't yet gain access to was the ONLY way to communicate.  No matter what was being said on talk shows, flaming and degenerate behavior was just as bad on the Internet.
