Kimagure Orange Road, KOR for short, was first created by Izumi Matsumoto in 1984. Although it's been over 15 years now, the series is still popular and even I could say famous. The reason for that is probably the unique atmosphere, which may be expressed with words of unknown californian subtitler "For those who want to relive the'r high school". This series takes you back to your teenage years.
KOR is basically a story of three persons: Ayukawa Madoka, Kasuga Kyosuke and Hiyama Hikaru. And the story of love and friendship between them. To get more info about that, check KOR heroes' subpage or read more about the plot.
KOR may be "accessed" in the following forms:
18 manga volumes originally serialized in Jump Comics, published by Shuueisha 1984 - 1988
48 TV episodes (on air from April 8 1987 to March 7 1988) produced by Toho Company, LTD. and Studio Pierrot
8 OAV's
KOR The Movie "Ano Hini Kaeritai" (I want to Return To That Day) (1988)
In addition to these there were:
1 pilot episode with a different cast
1 40 minute "Tanabata" (a Japanese holiday) special
1 60 minute "Episode 49," a flashback of the 48 episodes
In the 90's Matsumoto continued KOR as Shin KOR - New Kimagure Orange Road, telling the story of "what happened after". So far there were three novel released and two movies:
Shin KOR the Movie "Ano Natsu no Hajimari" (Summer's Beginning) (???)
Shin KOR II the Movie ??? (???)
The third novel is supposed to be filmed some time in the future...
