Here's what I'm thinking (and remember I prefixed my remark about the ha'porth of tar with the observation that I'm well aware of how profit and loss are differentiated in the details): An automobile compact spare is rather obvious - it would be difficult to realize that something is different here. The difference between a B-rated and a C-rated trailer tire is pretty subtle and would be easy to miss if you didn't suspect that the three tires were not created equal. It's also probably more likely that it will be needed than an auto spare. On the other hand, I wasn't particularly condemning IM for using that tire. Cost savings are on a continuum, and each person must set their own limits of "obviously good" and "obviously bad". I just think that this particular one is pretty close to being off one end of it. "bottled air" from the smog-free location of your choice .. compressed in certified cylinders, and shipped to your door... it could be one helluva franchise opportunity. Not only would this fill yer trailer tires, but you could "vent" the thing into your air conditioning intake for that special "party" atmosphere .. ! I hope you're not simply letting that old smelly air escape into the environment when you change your tire air. The right thing to do would be to drive to a smoggy area (or an approved air recycling station), empty your old air, then drive to a fresh area to get the fresh air. -eric (expecting the moderator to put an end to this thread any moment)... Also, if the tires are overinflated is their any hazard associated with breathing the old air when deflating the tires. Should we wear some sort of self contained breathing apparatus when adjusting air pressure. This air thing is driving me crazy!!! RAY
