The "Paleya" Publishing House of Russia published "Brief Biography of Kim Jong Il" in Russian together with his portrait, and the first volume of the anti-Japanese revolution, part 1 of "With the Century," was brought out in Ethiopia and Bulgaria in their national languages respectively. The Minister of Information and Culture of Ethiopia at the book releasing ceremony of the President's reminiscences "With the Century" said that the President's reminiscences is a precious treasure for humankind.
An European Conference on Juche Idea and Issues of
Socialism was held in Moscow, Russia on June 17-18, 1999.
It was held under the auspices of the European
Regional Society for the Study of the Juche Idea and the
Preparatory Committee for the European Conference.
Participating in the conference were delegates from 18 European
countries, delegates and delegations from Japan,
India, the DPRK as well as the delegation of the
Intenational Institute of the Juche Idea, (IIJI).Its opening session was
conducted on June 17.
An opening address was made by Deputy Director Alexandr Kapto at the Russian
Institute of Socio-politics. It was followed by congratulatory
speeches of Vice-speaker Pabrin S. N. of the State Duma lower house of Russia,
chairman of the Russian People's Genaral Federation; Secretary
Genaral Ogami Kenichi of the IIJI; Secretary General Vishwanath of the
"International Kim Il Sung Prize" Council; and
First-Vice-Chairman Kim Chol Sik of the Korean Association of Social Scientists,
the DPRK.
The Keynote Report entitled "People's
Cause of Independence, that of Socialism, Shall Not Perish" was
made by Directer-General Edmond Jouve of the Directors' Board of the
European Regional Society for the Study of the Juche Idea, professor
at Paris V, France. Speeches followed it: "On the Juche Idea
and Issuse of Socialism in the Peasent Situation" by
Prof. Kovalev A. M.; "What Historical Lesson We
Have Attained?" by Karimov, secretary of Organization of the
Central Committee of the Tajikistan Communist Party; and
"The Future of Socialism Depends on the Formation of Subject of the
Revolution" by Gueorgui Ratchev, member of the
Central Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party.
Speeches continued on June 18, the following day:

Bernadimi of the Italian Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea,
professor at Teramo University, Italy; "The Ideal of Socialism
Still Remains Alive in the Minds of the European
People" by Prof. Valeri Kovalenko at
Moscow University; "How Did Socialism in East European
Countries Start to Change in Quality?" by Vice-Chairman Zafir Constantin of
the Central Committee of the Socialist Party of
Romania; "Scialism - A Historical Necessity" by
Chairman Keith Bennett of the Korea Friendship & Solidarity Campaign,
Britain;"Scientific Socialism Tantamount to Massaes - centred
Socialism" by Prof. Pachenko V.Y.at Moscow Unversity; and
"The Movement for Independence and Sovereignty, and
Democracy and Socialism in Europe Links with the Anti-imperialist Struggle"
by Chairman Kostenko Dmitrii of the Russian Youth Association
for the Study of the Juche Idea.
The speeches continued: "Fresh Upsurge in the Struggle for
Independence and Social Development Taking Place in the
21st Century" by Rikard Stenberg, teacher at Marumo
Secondary High School in Sweden; "The Cause of Socialism - a Cause
Led to Victory by the Great Idea and the Great
Leadership" by Deputy
Director Pak Ryong of the Institute of Social Science,
Korea University in Japan; "The Frustration of 'Socialism' in the
Former USSR and East European Countries and the Socialism of Korean
Style - The Juche Idea Which Carves Out the Future of
Mankind - " by Emeritus Prof. Kamakura
Takao at Saitama
University, Japan; "Independence and Unity
Indispensable to Achieve the Anti - imperialist Struggle
and Socialist Movement" by Gennaji Astahov,
journalist of the "Pravda in Amurskaya"; and "Let
Us Step Up the Activities for Studying and Disseminating the Juche Idea in
Europe" by Mokhail Konkin, section chief of
the Youth Question Committee under Direct Control of the
Russian Government.
In the afternoon of June 18, its closing session was conducted.
The European Conference adopted a declaration entitled "Let Us
Continue to Uphold Aloft the Banner of Socialism" unanimously. A
closing address was made by Secratary
Genaral Bruno Amoroso of the
Directors' Board of the European Regional Society for the Study of
the Juche Idea, professor at Roskilde University, Denmark. Thus the
conference was held successfully.
In the evening after the conference a banquet was held, where delegates
who had taken part in the conference cultivated friendship. The European
Conference on the Juche Idea and Issues of Socialism marked an
important occasion in restoring socialism in the world.
