A Slacker's Guide to Chat Language

Ok, so you're new to all this internet stuff and have decided to check out some chat rooms. You're in this chat room, everyone are chatting away at high speed, you type "Hi everyone" at the speed of 5 words per minute. A few people responds and greets you. Then this weirdo types: "A/S/L?". You are puzzled and wonder what is wrong with this person. What's a/s/l???

This is the beginning of all this bizarre chat 'language'.

Tone Of Voice

Obviously, you can not hear the different tones of speech when reading the text script of chat rooms. There is often misunderstanding when someone thought that someone else said something offensive to them, but they meant something else that was entirely innocent and so on. Sometimes, to soften the tone, try putting a smiley face or 'hehe' after the sentense so the other people will know that you are not straight serious or offensive :)

This is merely a rough guide - slacker's guide. So if you have any common chat lingo you would like to contribute to the sections above, feel free to email me them :)
