June portfolio up by 47.2% after 6 weeks

(as at 12 noon July 14, '99)

On June 1, 1999 a selection of 5 stocks was made with suggested prices for readers to consider. The ticker symbols (stock exchange stock codes) were PTI/TSE, EKP/AL(formerly SOJ/AL), FNCM/NASDAQ, HMSK/NASDAQ and JAWZ/NASDAQ. So far we have only been able to acquire 4 out of the five stocks because they hit our price range. At this point in time two of the stocks are still in the price range i.e. EKP/AL @$1.43 each and FNCM @ $US4.6875 each.

We have not been able to take a position in PTI/TSE because the ****** thing will not come down to our price range of $6-$8. It is very tempting to throw in the towel and raise the target buying price by $2 to $8-$10 but let's wait for a few more weeks and see what happens.

Jan 1 '99 portfolio up by 139.2% after 6 months 2 weeks

(as at 12 noon July 14, '99)

On January 1, 1999 a selection of 8 stocks was made. One of the selected stocks was removed in late May 199 because of poor execution of their business plan and mistakes by the management. They were replaced by Alberta-based Jaws Technology JAWZ/NASDAQ which is in the same industry and sector with a more powerful product. At this point in time three of the stocks in this portfolio are very attractive - CRY/TSE, FWEB/NASDAQ, & BHUB/NASDAQ, especially CRY/TSE.

For those who wanted to know what the acronyms mean, the acronym preceding the slash (/) is the stock exchange code for the companies we are investing, while the acronym following the slash represents the stock market where these stocks are traded e.g.. TSE=Toronto Stock Exchange, AL=Alberta Stock Exchange, VSE=Vancouver Stock Exchange and NASDAQ for the technology-laden exchange in the USA - (National Association of Security Dealers And Quotation system)
