Prior to the construction of the gym, which took place after my tenure on the Mission, this was the only place for the children to run wild and burn off some of that enthusiastic energy possessed by kids. Behind the playground you can see the medical clinic building. In this view, the school would be off to the viewer's right. The new gym occupies the once empty section between the clinic and the school. A volunteer doctor would come once a week to provide services. We did have a resident RN on the Mission. Erville Allen was her name and she was a perpetual spot of brightness at the Mission.
